5.0 out of 5 stars Heard this live
I heard this live at the Crucible Studio and was so overcome by the haunting melody of the two cellos that I had to have a recording of it. The Borodin Quartet do Schubert proud on this particular recording and am so please to have it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too demanding but certainly has depth
This is melodic and has a depth of harmonic invention that IN LAYMAN'S TERMS means that it is easy on the ear and somewhat Mozartian without just a cacophany of melody. It's great value for money. How long is it?
You can play it in headphones as you fall asleep.

4.0 out of 5 stars sublime yet accessible, 27 Feb 2014

Four stars only because I have grown up and lived with the famous recording with Cassals and Tortelier taking the cello parts. I like this and the recording quality is lovely, but the heart wrenching quality of the old recording for me is unsurpassable.

I ordered this download at £2.79 (for an album of around 45 mins playing time) then I got the invoice, £2.79 less £2 discount. 79p, what value!

At £2.49, and the playing of a first rate string quartet (plus one) this seems like a great bargain. But most recordings contain some more music: this is pretty short measure. However, it is cheap, and the performance/recording is very good indeed.
