4.0 out of 5 stars Spoilt for choice....
Lots of "hype" surrounded the release of this and the Carved album due to the amount of songs and the dilema of choice for the inclusion on the Carved album.

This is esentially the "leftovers & reserves" from that album, although not an agreed list by fans or band members alike.

3.0 out of 5 stars A mediocre album from a fantastic band
These songs were apparently recorded during the "Carved In Sand" sessions, in 1989, but not included in the final cut. It's good that it gives you a chance to listen to what really are a bunch of b-side songs. This is more of a mellow Mission, and soon becomes one of those albums that can just be played in the background. I'd recommend only buying this if you...

Only 2 tracks stand out here - Grip of Disease and Divided we fall, both which would have better suited being on C.I.S, the former showing some guitar work that better suited this band.

Mr Pleasant is worth a listen and is tongue in cheek, but the remainder are, well, worthy of a "B" sides type disc, which this essentially is.

Overall, its still worth getting and adding to your Mission collection.

"First Chapter" is a good start.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grains of perfection amongst grains of mediocrity, 10 Dec 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Grains of Sand (Audio CD)
The first half of this album is brilliant, with one or two stunning tracks like 'Mr Pleasant' and 'The Mercenary'. The other half is rather bland at best. It's worth it simply because of 'Mr Pleasant' though.
