A total rip-off; series 1 & 2 together cost half the price of series 2 on its own!!

Film techniques have come on to such an extent, that this one-time favourite now seems poor, compared to a modern-day Dr Who staring David Tennant.
The 'flying saucers' look like cardboard cut-outs (no-one could possibly take them seriously) and the good old ploy of aliens burning up when shot, really does fail to capture the imagination after a few episodes!
The plot is simple: David Vincent is on a one-man mission to save the world from aliens out to take over the Earth and make it theirs! He travels largely across the American outback, following up every lead he can and trying to convince the authorities to take the threat seriously. This gives rise to many exciting escapades. The problem is that by present-day standards, the filming seems severely lacking in the special effects we all now take for granted!
The plots are generally good, but the appeal of 'mug-shots', aliens burning up in a red glow, 'death-stars' used to induce cardic arrest or cerebral haemorrhage and the constant 'da da deh, da da deh, da da d-a-r-h!' really does wane after a while!
The plots are always over emphasized (every detail is spelt out) and there's even an epilogue as well! One also feels that there's something quite sinister behind all this in that really it is clever 'cold-war' propaganda, out to portray Communists as ruthless individuals devoid of human emotions!
On the plus side, for those interested in 60s nostalgia (or 60s paranoia!), it's excellent value-for-money providing you buy both series one and two together, rather than series two on its own. Also, the stories have a certain homely quality, likely to appeal to kids.
Another minus, however, is the price. It is well over 50% dearer to by Series 2 on its own, compared to buying both one and two. At present, you could save roughly £20 buying both and just binning Series 1, if you already have it! The best strategy, however, would be to act as an entrepreneur and sell it on Amazon!
