metal circus review for interested customers,
This review is from: Metal Circus [10" VINYL] (Vinyl)
If your new to husker du this a good choice -it gives you an idea of the band and what they were doing in a high point in their careers, the songwriting is excellent, the lyrical content just one element of it that argueably shines above almost anything else from the 1980's era. After this husker du were to release two critically acclaimed lp's in quick succession, 'new day rising' and 'flip your wig' were both undeniably very artistic pieces. Husker du are (like you might be thinking) a somewhat aquirred taste but on the other hand i doubt they are what your expecting, i mean, i for one have never heard a band like them, or in fact any band that i literally admired like i admired this lot. Taking into consideration the fine price tag on this record i recommend you to buy it, you will probably find yourself collecting the rest before long - these are not even especially easy records to get and if you find them at the store youll be paying top bucks just cause they know that whoever wants husker du will pay cause they cant get it in the other store down the street (if you follow what im blabbing on about) So then, trust me, you cant miss out on this band. i give more than five stars. Husker Du are classed under punk or probably 'hardcore' punk - some are likely to say the band were 'emo'- a name given to punk bands of the era that were breaking off and writing songs labelled as 'emotional'

diane,

This review is from: Metal Circus Ep (Audio CD)
fantastic.this was the first husker du record i bought after being recomended them...i had not prevously heard any of their songs. up untill the second to last track it contains superior melodic hardcore punk. Then, out of no-where, comes 'diane'...a song which demonstrated why they were above so many of their contemporaries, in that there was so much more to them than straightforward rock songs...they were so original, and in 'diane', created a truly haunting, beautiful sounding song. i'd personaly recomend starting with their 'candy apple grey' album...but this is still an essential puchase.

Cracking bees in a jam-jar punk/rock,
This review is from: Metal Circus Ep (Audio CD)
This is an album that still sounds fresh today, though it probably sounds better on vinyl than on CD. The angry bees in a jam-jar guitar sound of Mould with his often screaming, fast vocals over the top make this an album that most will either love or hate after just one listen. The track of the album is , of course, Diane; a classic which was very ably covered by Therapy. Another cracker for the collection!
