5.0 out of 5 stars If you are into Hard Rock add this one to your collection., 8 Aug 2000
This review is from: Run for Cover (Audio CD)
Gary Moore shows on this album what a good song writer he is. The various collaborations on the album include the hit singles "Out in the Fields" with Phil Lynott, and "Empty Rooms". "Military Man" from Lynott's days in Grand Slam bowls you over and "Run For Cover" kicks you in the teeth. Glen Hughes voice is clear and crisp and Moore's guitar solo's at times almost take your breath away. Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great Album but too many singers, 28 April 2007
This review is from: Run For Cover (Audio CD)
Gary Moore on the back of the shapes of things 12" said during his interview with Alan Freeman (Yes sad arent I) back in 84 that he was looking for a lead singer and wanted to concentrate on his lead work.

This I vividly remembered when I bought this as the Album is very good and shows a maturity in Moores song writing and playing although it just looses itself with 3 different vocalists - Gary Moore, Glenn Hughes and Phil Lynott.

The Album is worth a spin as it contains some great balls out rockers, ballads, and awesome fretwork work. The Nothing to Lose track - Written by Moore detailing Lynotts lifestyle which is now so apt - as 4 months after this album was released Lynott was gone as the songs graphically warns.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gazza at his best, 28 May 2010

This album rocks the house down, its excellent. you cant argue with chunks of rock genius such as out in the fields, and run for cover. Gazza really knows how to create exciting, dramatic rock music. Even the poppier songs are excellent, despite what the naysayers who have previously reviewed this might think. The only problem with the album for me is that different songs on the album feature different lead singers, either Gazza himself, Phil Lynott or Glen Hughes, i feel it was unnecessary to use Glen Hughes for vocals as he sounds like Gazza anyway, but with a whinier voice. I would have been happy with just Gaz and Phil. Anyway, loads of fantastic songs on this cd, including the aforementioaned ones, and Empty rooms. Think i'll knock one star off for Glens annoying, whiney, indulgent singing.

First had the vinyl of this back in the 80's and played it constantly. Gary Moore (with a sprinkling of Phil Lynott) at his majestic best. I know his heart was with the blues but.......he could really rock!
