What a fantastic record. Hot Chocolate made some absolutely marvellous records & this collection is testament to that fact.
The songs are smooth as silk. They can be a combination of very funky, sexy & saucy, bitter & sweet. The musicianship is fantastic,as is the production & if Errol's voice was a business, I reckon Ann Summers would be bankrupt.
You do forget with some bands how much quality they produced & Hot Chocolate are probably for many people, one of those bands. I thoroughly enjoy this record, its pure quality (& its a tip top party record too !)
A must own - no, really, it is !!

The UK band Hot Chocolate were regular visitors to the UK Top Ten right through the 1970s. Emma from about 1974 is a passionate dirge that tells the tragic story of Emmaline and So You Win Again was their huge top 5 hit from 1978. My other favourites here include You Sexy Thing, I'll Put You Together Again and their other massive hit, Every 1's A Winner.

The lead singer's smooth warm voice wraps itself perfectly around the synth-based instrumentation and all of the songs are tuneful and memorable. Hot Chocolate were perhaps the UK's premier soul band in the seventies, consistently scoring hits, even during the disco era when they mastered the form in their song Disco Queen.

If they weren't a British band, I would have expected them to be on the Stax label! Yes, this music is that good and Hot Chocolate's sound compares well with the best of Motown and Stax/Volt's romantic songs. Unfortunately this collection does not contain their first hit I Believe (In Love) and another good one Love Is Life. Those may be found on the album Their Greatest Hits.

The UK band Hot Chocolate were regular visitors to the UK Top Ten right through the 1970s. I Believe (In Love) from 1971 is an oh so gentle, wistful song with melodious organ lines and a male voices that caresses the soul, Emma from about 1974 is a passionate dirge that tells the tragic story of Emmaline and So You Win Again was their huge top 5 hit from 1978. I bought this CD to reminisce as sometime, long, long ago when plastic albums (or LP's as we used to call them) were the only musical thing available, I owned 'Hot Chocolate's Greatest Hits' or whatever it was called at the time. The one with a Malteser in someones lips on the front (well I think thats what it was, I was only a teenager at the time) I played it over and over again, and thought that Errol Brown was THE most sexy man on earth, with his open neck shirts, medallion, bald head and provocative lyrics. I've just bought the CD and wow, it all came rushing back to me..I'd remembered all the words to every song, and it still gives that feeling....apart from I'm a middle aged married mother of 2 ...oooohhh, you sexy thing!!

Sadly as many will know, the lead voice of 'Hot Chocolate' 'Errol Brown' past away after suffering from cancer on 6th May 2015
The music of course will live on in our memories of those times.
One of the greats in terms of both 'Romantic' and 'Disco' from the .70's and early 80's
The group was put together by lead-singer 'Errol Brown' toward the end of the 60's first calling themselves 'The Hot Chocolate Band'
however when producer 'Mickie Most' signed them up in 1970 it was shortened to Hot Chocolate.
The group were soon on the hit-trail with 'Love is Life' (Chart '6' 1970) which is not included upon this release, however most of the
groups best known releases are, they had numerous Top-Ten successes throughout the 70's into the 80's (along with several re-releases
and 'remixes' during the late 80's into the 90's.
Ironically , though enormously popular the group only had the one Chart-Topper that was 'So You Win Again' (1977) among their Top-Ten
successes on-board 'Brother Louie' (Chart '7' 1973) 'Emma' (Chart '3' 1974) ('Emma probably my personal favourite)'You Sexy Thing'
(Chart '2' 1975) 'No Doubt About It' (Chart '2' 1980) 'Girl Crazy' (Chart '7' 1982) and 'It Started With A Kiss' (Chart '5' 1982) among some
of the groups favourites for many and also on-board 'Every 1's A Winner' (Chart '12' 1978) and 'I'll Put You Together Again' (Chart '13' also
1978)
There are one or two significant Top-Ten-Hits not included on the albums play-list including - 'Put Your'e Love In Me' and 'A Child's Prayer'
though, overall this is a great reflection of the groups long-run on the pop/funk/disco scene of those times, 'Errol Brown' left the group in
1986 to pursue a solo career, he still performs to this day, the group with one or two member changes reformed n 1992 and also continue
to perform to this day.

I've been promising myself this CD for years - ever since I first heard 'It started with a Kiss' - the voice and arpegio guitar works so well for my favourite musical period - the 60s. The rest of the CD is also v.good - so all in all - a great buy for an excellant price. Even the kids rate it so there you go!

This is a wonderful collection. Errol Brown's voice is so smooth and sexy. The rumbling basslines, the sublime strings, A perfect combination. One of the late Mickey Most's discoveries and his most successful.
The hits keep coming. Every one a winner!

Loved this, listening to this took me back in time to some great memories. So you win again is my favorite, I like how it tells you what position in the charts it was, would have been good if the year had been added. As it's the greatest hits, there's not much to say as you will only buy this if you like hot chocolate.

If you know Hot Chocolate, or have watched The Full Monty, then you'll know the big hots on this album.

As a collection of 'Best Of' tracks, this is Hot Chocolate at their best. the current price of this CD means you can't go wrong.

If 'You Sexy Thing' and 'Every 1's A Winner' haven't got your toes tapping then you're probably dead and needn't bother with this album. Anyone with a heart still beating needs to get this album and relive their youth or discover some great tracks.
