5.0 out of 5 stars A great compilation from Manuel.
Contrary to a previous reviewers opinion this album is a must for those who appreciate that marvellous institution of the quiet and reflective time alone or with good company, a cosy evening at home and good music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Selection
This disc contains early recordings from Manuel which we were looking for. The sound is not as mellow as the LP versions and may have been "enhanced" somewhat. Still enjoyable and may be completely satisfactory for a younger ear.

Contrary to a previous reviewers opinion this album is a must for those who appreciate that marvellous institution of the quiet and reflective time alone or with good company, a cosy evening at home and good music.
This album is a compilation of some of Manuels (Geoff Love) greatest tracks. Purely instrumental with the accent on latin rhythm and strings with wordless chorus in the background.Manuel recorded many albums and all sold very well. His sound is unmistakable with latin guitars with harp and percussion and a huge string section.Geoff Love contributed greatly to British popular music and was responsible for the orchestral arrangements on many great albums by Shirley Bassey, Vera Lynn, Matt Monroe and many other great singers. He was the musical director on many British TV shows including those by Max Bygraves and Cilla Black. Many young artists during the 50's and 60's including Cliff Richard owed much to Geoff Loves arranging and conducting skills to steer some of their recordings to chart success. This particular CD is fantastic value for money with so many wonderful tracks and each one instantly recognizable for the glorious melodies and superb arrangements.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FEAST FOR THE EARS, 22 Feb 2012
This review is from: Mountain Fiesta (Audio CD)
TWENTY TRACKS ALL BEAUTIFULLY CONDUCTED BY A MASTER CRAFTSMAN, GEOFF LOVE AKA MANUEL. A MAN WITH NOTHING TO PROVE TO ANYBODY REGARDING THE QUALITY OF HIS MUSIC.

SOME OF THESE TRACKS WILL BE FAMILIAR, "THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA", "THE WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND", "STRANGER IN PARADISE" AND "WANDRIN` STAR". WHEREAS ONE OR TWO LESS SO, "GARDENS IN IBIZA" AND "BOSSA EL CID". THERE IS ONE THING THAT THEY ALL HAVE IN COMMON, THEY WILL LEAVE YOU IN A BETTER FRAME OF MIND AFTER YOU HAVE LISTENED TO THEM. SIT BACK, CLOSE YOUR EYES, AND ENJOY.

Oh my goodness, this took me back a few years ! Almost a caricature of the 1950s - but a certain innocence and light-heartedness which we seem to have forgotten these days despite an easier life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Elevator music that you should crawl up stairs to avoid..., 22 May 2010
This review is from: Mountain Fiesta (Audio CD)
It is a great pity that this has survived. Love and the others like him share much of the responsibility for the death of popular music. Anything musical or original is suppressed to achieve an instantly recognisable but insidious sound that quickly turns brain cells to mush. There is nothing to surprise or delight.

Don't buy this for anyone you care for.
