Glen Campbell reminds me of my childhood and car journeys, singing along to Rhinestone Cowboy, Wichita Lineman and Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay.
I was familiar with GC's version long before I ever heard Otis.
This triple CD collection has all the songs I wanted plus a few extras,
which are less Country than Glen's usual style but nevertheless easy to listen to. My husband doesn't like country music, so I told him it was Michael Buble singing (It's Only Make Believe and You're My World), in soft mellow lounge tones, rather than twangy country and he quite happily listened to the rest obliviously. A good easy listening compilation with songs that we all know and love and some we don't yet but may grow to love equally so.

A very good album, it brought back many a happy memory and to me, still sounds just as good today as it did when it first came out not dated.

I have been looking for a Glen Campbell collection and this one really fitted the bill, containing hits and songs not normally associated with him, great CD.

Unless you are a real Glen Campbell fan, your needs for a collection of his classic studio hits will probably be restricted to around half a dozen tracks ("Wichita Lineman", etc). This album contains all of them, and 60 tracks in total, some better than others.
There are a lot of Glen Campbell compilations around, and the newer ones are almost always more expensive without necessarily containing any more or better tracks.
I recommend this album if you can get it at a good price, which you usually can. It's quite a bumper bundle.

Sixty songs, three CDs, low price. This is a good value. However, this is not the definitive statement on Campbell's Capitol years. A lot of the hits are here, but some are missing, and the tracks that sit beside them seem to have been chosen, to some degree, on the basis of filling the CDs, and not in presenting the best of the non-hit material.

Overall, for the price, one can't complain too much. But a much better survey of Campbell's Capitol years was achieved on the Legacy box set that Capitol (EMI) issued a few years ago.

'Glen Campbell' Country/Folk/Pop singer who could also deliver Rock and Gospel was a Singer/Songwriter and multi-talented
Instrumentalist was born in 'Delight' Arkansas 1936.
His popularity World-Wide, also known for his acting roles such as in 'True Grit' opposite screen-legend 'John Wayne'
He started his career as a session-musician and backed many a great name in the business, he also became involved with
groups such as 'The Champs' however his future in the recording business was to be a solo-artist though his rise to fame
wasn't a fast one, having just moderate success with his early recordings.
During 1965/6 he toured with 'The Beach Boys' and then with 'Ricky Nelson' it was at this time he had his biggest chart success
to date in the U.S with 'Buffy Saint-Marie's' - 'Universal Soldier'
Here in the U.K his Chart Success began in 1969 with 'Wichita Linesman' (Chart '7') followed by 'Galveston' (Chart '14') the same
year followed by 'All I Have To Do Is Dream' (Chart '3' also 69) sung with 'Bobby Gentry' his next Top-Ten-Hit here in the U.K
came in 1970 'Honey Come Back' (Chart '4') later the same year he achieved another Top-Ten Success with 'It's Only Make Believe'
(Chart '4') a song that was also a hit for 'Conway Twitty' in the late 50's and 'Billy Fury' in the mid-60's - in 1975 he again had a Hit
with what is possibly the song many associate him with - 'Rhinestone Cowboy'
This 3-CD Box-Set harbours 'Glen Campbell's' best known hit-material along with many popular songs made famous by artists such
as 'Roy Orbison' 'Bob Dylan' 'Simon and Garfunkel' and 'Johnny Cash' among many.
This is a superb reflection of his music down the years....well worth owning.
'Glen Campbell' continued to perform right up to 2013, sadly in more recent times he was struck by the truly wicked illness of 'Alzheimer's'
and is being cared for in a long-term Medical-Facility.

From time to time I start to get nostalgic for the songs of my youth, so I won't rest until I've bought the CD or downloaded the MP3 of whichever artiste I'm pining for at that time. This one filled the bill, except for the song that started me wanting to listen to Glen Campbell again, which was Where's the Playground Susie? Although this one wasn't on this recording, all my other favourites of his were, so I bought this and then bought the MP3 of Where's the Playground separately. Problem solved!

Super collection of Glen Campbell's Capitol/Ember material with some unusual and rarely heard live and instrumental tracks. Glaring omission is "Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife" and I'd have loved to see his very moving duet with Anne Murray "I Say A Little Prayer / By The Time I Get To Phoenix" getting wider exposure.

Otherwise a fine collection that is highly recommended.
