4.0 out of 5 stars Solid second album
This is a very good album. Okay, it's not quite up to the standards of Eye to the Telescope, but at least she's trying to evolve with her sound a little.

There are fewer of the acoustic, introspective tracks of her debut, and a more upbeat, electric sound. Having said that, there are still acoustic numbers here. My personal favourites are the upbeat 'Hopeless',...

3.0 out of 5 stars KT Tunstall - Drastic Fantastic
KT Tunstall's latest offering, 'Drastic Fantastic', is a satisfying follow up to her excellent previous album, 2004's 'Eye To The Telescope'. It must be said that I cannot see this album producing as many stand out singles as the afore mentioned 'Eye To The Telescope', but the strength of each track combines to create a collection of wonderfully crafted songs. This album...

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult Second Album? Well, yes., 10 Sep 2007
By
This review is from: Drastic Fantastic (Audio CD)
Those of you buying this expecting to hear Eye To The Telescope II ... hm ... well, you kinda will, I suppose, but it's a less enchanting version. The rawness and honesty of the original is just about visible, but overall this effort is over produced, slightly samey and altogether a less rewarding experience. Inoffensive is probably the right word.

2.0 out of 5 stars KT trying to break the States ?, 12 Sep 2007

Overproduced, not enough 'holes' in the music, none of 'Eye's quirkiness, someone remind the producer that the festival season is over for 2007 and we have to sit in without annoying the neighbours with so much thumping.
Very disappointing, songs are weak, KT's voice is drowned and lacks soul. Theres none of the jerky, jagged edged semi slow songs as on 'Eye' and a marked lack of sublety OR is she just trying to crack the States because it is a good driving record.

2.0 out of 5 stars That difficult sophomore album !, 11 Sep 2007
What a disappointment !I mean , it's not THAT bad but judging by the standard imposed by "Eye to...." it's certainly a step backwards - shame , it took her 2(two) years for THIS ? She could have done it in six weeks, I'm sure of it watching her perform LIVE - better luck (and a better songwriter!) next time....

3.0 out of 5 stars if only...but not quite, 10 Sep 2007

starts off really strong. tracks 5-6 & 7 are just fillers...from there on it's pleasant enough but instantly forgettable...the last 4 new tracks lean heavy on the folk and although they maybe growers...4 of 'em in a row has me nodding off!
there's also a repetition in the lyrics and the production becomes mundane.
doesn't have 'the spine tingling hair raising on the back of the neck' impact of eye to the telescope which is a real shame because she's one of the best female singers in decades.
i think she maybe played it a little too safe with this release.
i only hope the next album see's her break some new ground...maybe a co-writer would help.

Her first CD is one of the best I've ever owned. (In 45 years of owning music). The early release tracks of CD #2 rock! K.T., you are awesome. Your fans "across the pond" love your work!
