Lp-e6 for 5D MKII,
This review is from: Canon Battery Pack Lp-e6 For The Eos 5d Mk Ii (Accessory)
This is,in my humble opinion, a brilliant battery. It does exactly what the Canon blurb says. Only 4 stars because of the expense and it surely cannot be beyond the wit of all those Canon boffins to have made this fit the 30, 40, 50 or 5D Now I have to carry two sets of batteries and a charger for each set....a real downer....Still a great battery.

Original Canon battery, arrived super fast, and lasts for over 1200 shots in my Canon 7D. Has been charged 4 times, and everytime delivers endless shooting. Much better than any 3rd party battery. Also Amazon have the best price on the web for this original battery. Go on treat yourself.

I always like to have a spare,

This is the standard battery for the Canon 5d2 and 7d. I have the latter and bought it as a contingency. However - for that particular shoot the original didn't run out - these things seem to last for aeons. Despite this I am still confident that I will genuinely need it later this year and am always happier with a fully charged spare in my bag. And while there are always brand X alternatives to be had for less, having spent many £££s on my photographic implement of choice, this seems an unobjectionable price to me for the genuine article.Needless to say - delivery was as expected and nothing to fault with Amazon as usual.

I wanted to get a spare battery to go with a newly-purchased Cannon D7.With my previous Canon (500D) I used cheap non-Canon batteries which worked just fine, so my first thought was to look around for substitute batteries. I couldn't immediately find any substitutes, so I settled for the time being with another 'official' Canon battery. One advantage of using a genuine Canon battery is that it does 'talk' to the camera, and will allow the camera to tell you about the condition of the battery. For example, the battery is telling the camera at the moment that: (a) It has 81% power remaining, (b) It has processed 308 exposures so far, and (c) It's 're-charge' capability is 'perfect'. Whether it's worth paying for this information, I'm not really sure. I must admit that the capacity of the battery does seem rather good, though. However, I'd like to think that it won't be long before some non-Canon batteries will be available at 10% the cost of the original. Oh yes. Charge time -- about two-and-a-half hours from dead.

Have searched around for OEM batteries, and read lots of do's and don'ts and that the full charge may not displayed, I decided that having paid £2k for a damn good camera, why spoil things with cheap Chinese batteries, so bought the Canon battery, and it's great. Managed 920 shots the first time out.

very long life battery so does the job but it is very expensive - unneccessarily so in my opinion - after all - its just a battery. There will probably be good 'lookalikes' available soon but I bought this to stay within guarantees etc.

Excellent product and by far the cheapest on the net. Do not buy an aftermarket battery for your Rolls Royce of cameras. Cheap batts won't charge in the factory charger and won't communicate with your camera, i.e. no battery level indicator.

Battery is Brilliant!,

Buying this canon battery does hit your wallet a little harder but it is worth it. On average I shoot about 700 shots before recharging and I preview most photo's on screen after too. You also get the detailed battery life info on back of camera, if its a canon own battery. It tells you how much percentage is remaining and how well it is going to recharge, so you know how much overall life is left in it. Excellent!

Why risk it,

This review is from: Canon Battery Pack Lp-e6 For The Eos 5d Mk Ii (Accessory)
I paid the best part of 2 grand for my 5dmk2. I intend to keep it for a few years yet and it has to produce top quality shots for my business[] where i produce fine art and landscape prints of the western isles of Scotland. Why is this relevant you might ask. Well when i paid 2 grand for a camera i decided it simply is not worth saving a few quid by buying cheap chinese imported batteries. Dont get me wrong I have and do use some duracell batteries for my 40d but i can see no such alternative for the 5dmk2 and im not prepared to risk my business productivity on some cheap possibly dodgy battery. What happens if it burns out the camera electrics or leaks? Now onto this battery, I cant fault its performance, I rarely run the battery down fully even on a days shooting. They last much better than the 40d batteries, in fact I have only got onto the second battery in a day a couple of times and i shoot landscapes using live view to manually focus so it is quite power hungry. This usage is based on winter time in Scotland which obviously means the battery has been subjected to very low temperatures and so i would estimate that its performance will if anything improve during the warmer months. A nice little touch is that they obviously work with the cameras battery meter to give you an accurate guage as to how much power is left. Why four stars then? Simple, the price although amazon always seems to be the cheapest for this particular battery it is still expensive, but if you want canon original batteries then Amazon are the cheapest around and even though i live on a remote Scottish island the delivery with them is always quick and hassle free.

Great battery as you'd expect from Canon - just a pity they have to be so expensive!! I was tempted to buy a compatible as I have had good experience with compatibles with my Canon 400D - Unfortunately though compatibles aren't recognised by the camera so they will show as empty - even though the battery may be fully charged! Hopefully with 2 genuine batteries, I shouldn't need anymore. BTW - This is also compatible with the 7D - for some reason it is never advertised as such.
