5.0 out of 5 stars Mac before the ladies came
This is a very good album for Peter Green enthusiasts, with as would be expected a strong slant towards R&B (especially the B bit). I bought this after buying the BBC Fleetwood Mac collection, which has an even stronger blues slant and contains some really great Peter Green numbers as well as lots of Jeremy Spencer riffs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best of Blues?
This is really a Best of... the Mk.1a Mac. When I say that, I mean it is primarily the early Blues songs which are covered, from the first half of the Peter Green period. Here can be found Long Grey Mare, Love That Burns plus other slow and shuffle numbers (with the notable exception of Moneymaker, Jem Spencer's hugely enjoyable Elmore James pastiche).

This album provides a nice introduction to Fleetwood Mac's music when the group was first formed in the late 60's, with rhythm and blues as well as a taste of the ballads that would later make FM famous. For what it's worth, my personal bias is towards the period when Christine McVie was the female soloist (on Bare Trees and other albums) but before Buckingham/Nicks joined the band.

A great buy that showcases the R&B trend of an amazingly vibrant period in popular music.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice blues..., 31 May 2004
this is a solid collection of songs from the early mac era (peter green, jeremy spencer...), begins with the lovely instrumental albatross (which inspired john lennon to write "sun king" for abbey road), then comes a row of blues from their early records and some b sides. All in all, recommended for blues purists, enjoy the music of this solid band, we are now million years from the buckingham nicks era.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best of Blues?, 22 Nov 2012
This is really a Best of... the Mk.1a Mac. When I say that, I mean it is primarily the early Blues songs which are covered, from the first half of the Peter Green period. Here can be found Long Grey Mare, Love That Burns plus other slow and shuffle numbers (with the notable exception of Moneymaker, Jem Spencer's hugely enjoyable Elmore James pastiche). There is a nod to the more commercial stuff with the evergreen instrumental Albatross (cf. Sleep Walk) and the cod-Latin Black Magic Woman (which probably justify Danny Kirwan's inclusion on the cover photo) but if you want the Rock material (and Moneymaker!), such as Green Manalishi and Oh Well (i.e. the Mk.1b Mac), go for the Greatest Hits (CBS, red & black cover) album. This one is for Blues purists only. Greatest Hits

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 29 Aug 2012
I was really glad to have tracked this album down The Best Of Fleetwood Mac as it has my one and only favourite instrumental and placed at the very top of the list. I have loved this track for many a year and I will never tire of it!!! I will request it at my Funeral, morbid I know but at least I will go out "Happy" ha ha....

The Album wasn't new but arrived in very good order and packaging was excellent.

This is the first time I have used Amazon and was amazed at the speed of delivery, I will have no hesitation is using this service for my other needs.
