5.0 out of 5 stars THE JAZZ MESSENGERS AT THEIR BEST - PROPER HARD BOP!!!, 8 Jan 2005

This review is from: The Freedom Rider (Audio CD)
What a wonderful album, I was given this album for christmas and I absolutely love it. Art Blakey swiging along to Wayne Shorter and Lee Morgan, two of my favourite improvisers is just fantastic. My favourite track has to be 'Pretty Larceny' composed by Morgan himself. The pianist Bobby Timmons, is a totally unappreciated figure in todays Jazz world, but his work with the messengers is superb. The whole atmosphere in this session is just warm and wonderful. If you like cool, hot swinging jazz then please, please get this album, its brilliant!!!

Mr Art Blakey will never let you down. This is a real good album. The main title is a five minutes long drum solo.
