Stephane Grapelli plays some tracks in an orcgestral setting with Yehudi Menuhin, to this jazz fan's ear acquitting himself well. It is when Menhuin plays jazz with Grapelli that the differences reveal themselves.
Menuhin is obviously a consumate, skilled violinist and he can play follow Grapelli and play all the latter's notes during their solos, but he doesn't have the jazzman's technique or feeling. For this reason each soloist can readily be identified. Nevertheless
