3.0 out of 5 stars Rage against Simon Cowell
I haven't even listened to the song. I only downloaded it to stop the X factor song being Xmas number 1. This was a protest against Simon Cowell's dominance of the music scene with his manufactued mediocre pop acts. And it worked. Well done People Power!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Christmas Song., 16 Dec 2009
This review is from: Killing In The Name [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Not since Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas' has such a beautiful Christmas song been written.

This release from Rage Against The Machine gently plucks on our heart's sentimental strings, and whisks us off into a winter wonderland full of love and hope, befitting of this time of year.

The opening stanzas softly move from allusion and metaphor to a more direct comment on how Christmas brings out the child in us all and the importance of recognising love in our surroundings.

As the song briskly flitters into the bridge, we can almost smell the log fires burning and taste the sweet and heady mixture of mulled wine and dark yuletide chocolate dancing in our mouths. De la Rocha's sweet refrain conjures visions of Elks sprinkled with snow, scattered across a wintery mountainside as one peers from a warm cabin in the distance, sharing anecdotes with loved ones next to a crackling fireside.

Then, just a jaunt away, the chorus is a thrilling sleigh ride, glistening and sparkling our way across a winter scene, punctuated by crystal beads of snow prickling the skin, filling us with joy and reminding us of the true nature of Christmas once again...love.

This slightly up-tempo but heart-felt song is truly a breath of fresh air. In a society where Christmas seems to have lost some of its meaning this festive song takes us back (or forwards maybe) to a simpler time when what really counted was 'togetherness' and 'virtue', and of 'altruism' and 'honesty'.

With a subtle nod to the cool Jazz standards of 30s and maybe influenced slightly by such great vocalists as Vera Lynn and Cliff Richards, this song will appeal to everyone both young and old, and seems on course to make it into the echelons of great Christmas records.

I had never heard of these newcomers called Rage against the Machine nor this track, but I have to say how delighted it is to hear such great Christmas songs.

Perfect for a nice family moment with your loved ones during your Christmas dinner.

RATM's 1992 track stands as their magnum opus, opening with such energy, and raw lyrics. 'Killing In the Name' conforms neatly to the criterion of canonical greatness, reveling in elements such as emotion, energy, composition and timeless appeal, even in 2009, the thematic core remains relevant to our society.

5.0 out of 5 stars This item does count as a sale!!! Amazing as well., 18 Dec 2009

This does count as a sale as Amazon are taking a loss of 11p a download, and they are paying the music company 40p. This is just promotion for Amazon MP3, it's a means to a gain, lose a few thousand pounds, gain tens of thousands with all the new customers buying other songs after this one.

But anyway this is an excellent song, it does make a good point about killing in wars because of mindless patriotism. And the riff. Gets stuck in my head ALL day!!

DOWNLOAD NOW IT DOES COUNT AS A SALE!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEE, 18 Dec 2009
This review is from: Killing In The Name [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Very average looking people, very confrontational, non-conformist, a little rough around the edges maybe. But they write the lyrics, write the music, play said music on their own instruments, have a message they believe in and get that message across regardless. THIS IS MUSIC WITH A SOUL. Don't buy this song because it's the end of a month long tv advert and it's expected of you, buy it because you love music and want to send a message. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

I needed a song expecting to overcome my general scrooge personality over Christmas time, and this changed my life for the good

I now constantly think of cuddly Reindeers, crisp white fluffy snow on their cute button noses - all singing along with Santa's little elven delights.

I shed a tear the first time i heard this - made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I seriously recommend purchasing this track as a gift for a cherised loved one - your granny, your favourite pet, even THAT uncle of yours....
