4.0 out of 5 stars lost masterpiece, 23 Dec 2009

This was the first album of a collaberation between Steve Hillage and Alex Patterson ( The Orb ). Later albums were more ambient.
In my opinion this album has more Steve Hillage influence and has some songs which are top class, Freedom Fighters and Strange Quotations being my favourites,
although the whole album is good. In essence a cross between progressive and trance similar in some aspects to Porcupine Tree,I.Q., Arena, Anathema etc.
I would recommend this album as a lost masterpiece which never got the attention
it deserved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking debut from System 7...., 14 April 2008

This album has a wicked sunny afternoon vibe. It sounds VERY early 90's and reminds me a little of The Grid or in places Stereo MC's classic 'Connected' album. It's a teeny-tiny bit dated now and is occasionally patchy, but is still a great slice of nostaligic post-rave, beats-inspired dance music which also features some great dreamy-ambient moments and is extremely easy on the ear.

System 7 evolved into more of a Trance-Techno act after this album, so the following styles are quite different. Subsequent classics like the brilliant 'Seventh Wave' are awesome, but this is well worth a listen.

Great Stuff

5.0 out of 5 stars Oldie but goodie, 24 Nov 2011

This is a first rate opener for a guy i have seen in concert going back to 1976. Loads of stand out tracks, Habibi and Strange Quotations being two of them. Hillages' guitar sounds permeate through the album and as i've just relistened to it after 20 Years YES 20 Years, it's well chilled in parts and very dancey in others. Pity he went down the trance/techno route which, if it didn't sound dull and uninspiring then, it does now.

I remember this well back from when it was first released a good album which features the classic Freedom Fighters featuring Zoe doing vocals in the chorus a fantastic track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me Smile Every-Time., 9 Feb 2012
This review is from: System 7 (Audio CD)
What a blessing this album is. It's makes me feel so happy every-time I hear it. I've been listening to ' Hillage ' since `78/`79, from his days with ' Gong ' to his solo material and now his work with ' System 7 ', and what an incredible talent he is. I implore you to buy this album, it's uplifting, fun and well produced. If this doesn't have you bouncing roun' the room, then there's no helpin' 'yer!!!...LOVE, PEACE, UNITY and HAVIN' FUN!!!
