This is an instant gift for 40 something Dads and chaps who spend a lot of time on the road...It doesn't break new ground, doesn't give the listener a new angle on anything, it just ROCKS.
If you've ever played Phil Cllins' In The Air Tonight drum solo this compilation is for you. If you've ever gurned alongside Freddy Mercury in your mind while he sings on the radio this compilation is for you.
Obviously by now the royalty payments are very low on most of these tracks hence their continued appearances on various compilations but it's a good, honest choice. A few nice surprises too (Cheap Trick et al)
If this were labelled 'Top Gear, Clarkson's Pyjama's' or something more marketable it would sell more strongly but it must be admitted that, for 101 tunes, this is more than a little of a bargain.
The box is awful and WILL fall apert the third time you open it by the way - 6 CDs in one multi-hinged case is beyond the powers of science...

This is a great selection of songs, there is something there for everyone. It covers songs from the 60's to the present, featuring artists such as queen, meatloaf, robbie williams, david bowie, nickleback, alice cooper,, and many more. i have not seen a better 6 cd set yet at this price

For the price its hard to fault this compilation, there are a few tracks which really cant be classed as power ballads or any other kind of ballad,ie avril lavignes complicated, but on the whole a good compilation which for the price beats all the others.

This is a fantastic compilation! Every disc has many tracks on which you can't wait to listen to. Many compilations have the best tracks on disc 1 and 2, but the rest are forgotten, not the case with this set. Now which disc will I listen to today? Mm......

This is a really good-value 6-cd purchase for all music collectors with a selection of up-beat sounds spanning between 30-40 years.
It includes many of the usual suspects for 'Power and Drive' compilations, including a couple of tracks from 'Meat Loaf' - 'Dead Ringer for Love' ( with 'Cher' ) and of course 'Bat out of Hell' ( a album of Power-Ballads wouldn't be the same without it ) it also includes a couple from the 'late' great' 'Roy Orbison' including 'Running Scared' and 'I Drove All Night' ( great tracks ) also on board 'Robbie Williams' with 'Angels' 'Queen'- -'I Want It All' along with another great standard for these albums --'Foreigner' --'I Want To Know What Love Is' (One o my many all-time favourites)
The set also includes songs from 'T'Pau' --'Bangles' --'Tina Turner'--'David Bowie' with familiar sounds along with 'Sin'ead O'Connor's'---'Nothing Compares to You' and so many more, great artist's with 'great sounds' the album is so worth adding to your collection, it will remind you of some of the best sounds and memories, over the past years.
It'll almost certainly persuade you to get that Air-Guitar into gear and your feet=tapping.
Well worth checking out the complete play-list on it's Amazon page......

Great CD............awesome ballads to sing along to and strum the infamous air guitar. Not all rock either, so when you've given yourself a headache from head banging, you can tug at the heart strings with some powerful love songs!! I love it!!!

Great value for money. Six discs with great songs on all of them. Only moan i have got about this product is that the box is very flimsy and it broke into pieces when i first opened it. Otherwise well worth buying it.

I bought this to prime myself for a power ballads club night. As with most compilation CDs, this is a case of 20-80 in that you buy a CD for the 20% of the songs you like/recognise on it and the other 80% is just so-so. However, the great thing about this series is that once you play the whole thing you discover hidden gems of tunes that you didn't realise you liked so much so you end up actually liking probably half the songs on each CD, which is a pretty good average for this kind of thing. I'd recommend buying this but then picking and choosing the songs you like and making your own playlist so you don't get pissed off with the filler-outter tracks!
