Awesome Set,

This review is from: Sony KDL40Z4500 40" Widescreen Full HD 1080p 200Hz LCD TV with Freeview (Electronics)
Got this set in Oct, Same as other review screen went blank after 2 days got my set replaced within 24 hours. Contacted Sony said it wasnt a fault i was just unlucky. Now the TV is outstanding. The picture is clear with great definition and depth of colour is awesome. The black is really black. The 200hz is down to your preference. I seen this and the 40w4500 in the Sony shop showing the same HD program and thought the z series had more detail. Like everything we buy its down to your preference and budget. If you get this TV i promise you wont be dissappointed its awesome(if it works). Got Freesat and the picture detail in BBc HD & ITVHD is sublime(football was fantastic to watch in HD). The sound is great through TV however got mine set up home cinema system, fantastic sound. Hope this helps happy viewing.

This replaced my excellent 100hz CRT Philips which connected a SD Sky box, PS3, Wii and a Sony DVD/HD recorder. When it comes to watching High Definition images the TV really excels. Watching Blade Runner Blu-Ray through the HDMI lead was truly amazing picking up details I'd never seen before and colours so rich, it was like a different film. Playing PS3 games such as Call of Duty 4 and the demo of Resident Evil 5 looked amazing as well with a deeper level of detail. I tried a normal DVD connecting via the HDMI lead and the picture quality again impressed. I think it upscales to 720 and the colours look fantastic. A couple of disappointments though with one of them almost rectified. The Wii image was a little blocky but this was through the Scart lead and Wii's don't do HD really. Although you can buy an HD component lead, reviews say it doesn't make that much difference. The picture quality of Sky was really poor though compared to our old Philips. The colours and detail were way off and was left thinking whether Sky HD had to be bought to compensate. We must have tried every picture setting on the TV to improve it but after some web search I find out that we should have set up the Sky for RGB output instead of PAL. I wouldn't say it matches the Philips but its a vast improvement. After a couple of weeks we've still been tweaking the picture colours and other options just to get the picture quality we're happy with. The sound quality is surprisingly good with some great depth and clarity. There's some clever sound options like Voice Zoom which boosts the dialogue sound. The main, remaining niggle is changing the picture size whenever the broadcast changes or swapping channels. The old Philips did this automatically. Until I get Sky HD I'm going to have to put up with the occasional resizing. Another small gripe is that the internal Freeview Guide requires you to leave on stand-by so the channels are updated overnight. We have a Sony HD recorder with Freeview so don't bother but you'd think it could update whilst watching it instead of wasting energy on stand-by. The Picture-and-Picture (PAP) feature is really cool so you can see two sources in two screens with the ability to switch between for sound. So whilst I could be playing a game, my wife could watch her Crime and Investigation channel! The little details such as the glowing Sony badge on the telly and the remote are worth mentioning. In the dark you can light up the remote control in its mesmerizing blue colour. I'm now trying to figure out how to use the DLNA function. Instead of buying the hardware of a media centre you can, in theory, connect the HD telly to your internet router then connect your laptop to view photos, films and hear music. I've since downloaded a shareware of Mezzmo which can connect to PS3s as well and have managed to view photos from my laptop whilst using the TV remote to navigate through them. Overall, this is an investment for HD viewing and has ticked all the boxes I needed it to do. As soon as Sky delivers the HD+ box I think some of the minor issues will go away.

had a look at this 40" and the two cheaper sony 40" full HD LCD's and decided to pay extra for this one - i was not disappointed!! With previous TVs there's always been a little something that's wrong - shades of black not displaying properly, image not sharp etc but the picture on this is faultless - everything looks beautifully sharp, movement is smooth... cannot fault this TV. Hooked up to a home cinema system is amazing, plus it has some nice little touches - like being able to switch on and off the sony logo which lights up, and being able to light up the remote control. So far, absolutely nothing to fault with this TV - one of my best ever purchases!

I have had this TV for 8 days now. It arrived slightly late and only item when two products had been ordered. City Link had sent the other product elswhere. The TV was easy to set up in the physical sense. It could be done by one able person but safer for two to do the job. The software was quick and easy to use. The interface is clean, clear and easy to understand. The initial settings in relation to colour etc are for me acceptable. The picture definition is the best I have ever seen. The instruction manuel is first class. The remote can also control BD, DVD and Amp. Minus point. There are only three HDMI connections. 1 on the lefthand side and two at the rear. I have already filled the rear two. With HD TV Terrestrial on the way another on the rear would have been useful.

The Sony 40Z4500, 40" is a fabulous telivision. The major drawback is that Virgin media are limited in HD TV Stations to show off how good this TV is. TV was delivered within time from Amazon. Was well packaged andmMet all our expectations All bits and pieces enclosed. Will use Amazon again without doubt for this type of expensive purchase.

If you are in any doubts about ordering this beast then lose them! This tv offers a great viewing experience - try 'Life on Earth' fantastic! I'm not prone to going on and on but I will, maybe I was lucky, so read other comments. I bought from Amazon (usual good service) delivered within 3 days set up very easy although I've still to work out how to use this DNLA thing (any help greatly appreciated) My only regret is that I could have bought it earlier, my cred. in the childrens eyes has gone up a few points! sorry about the exclamation marks some say it is a sign of madness but you would be mad to forgo this tv experience - cheat a bit and check it out at one of the sony shops (see diff in price)oops remembered another regret, I wish it was bigger (the tv).

I decided to buy this model after reading the WHICH review, as it was a rated model. I have not been disappointed this is a great TV. I was worried from the pictures on the internet that the speakers would look funny and detached from the TV but it looks good in the flesh. Picture is great in HD and Upscaled DVD. Normal Sky is good through the SCART, I was a bit worried from other reviews but for no reason.
