This is an absolute classic, up there with a Wheelybug and Lego for brilliant toys that YOU SHOULD HAVE! Endless entertainment, and no mess! You get a big fabric sheet to draw on, with colourful alphabet surround, plus 2 pens to fill with tapwater. Ours also came with some stencils which were completely ignored by the children.

Both my 19 month old daughter and 6 year old son love this, and play happily together. We take it on all trips, as it folds up into my handbag or baby changing bag, and has been used under restaurant tables, in hospital waiting rooms, and practically everywhere else. You can use it on the fussiest granny's carpet - 'cause it's only water!! genius!

I's also recommedn a selection of the mini-mats. Much more limited play value - you're really just 'revealing' the hidden picture rather than being creative - but a worthwhile addition to anyone's child-entertainment collection especially for trips out to restaurants etc.

I personally think the Classic mat is better than the Thomas and Disney Princess versions; they immediately limit the interest and come with easily-broken and rather gimmicky accessories.

Bought this for my 17 month old daughter as she likes to put things in her mouth and doesn't always keep the crayon on the paper. With this, I do not need to worry. It only works on the mat and the odd occasion that she has tried to colour in the furniture, it doesn't matter as it is only water. She loves to sit in the middle of the mat and draw around her. The hidden pictures around the edges are great as they can be coloured in again and again. I think it is a brilliant idea that once you have drawn on the mat, the ink disappears as it dries. Never need to run out of paper. This has been one of the best toys I have bought her and she plays with it every day. I would definately recomend this.

Excellent toy. I brought this for my 13 month old son, he loves it. He only does lines and squiggles at minute, but always smiling when he is doing it.
it's great that he can make a mess on the mat, and within 1/2 hour it's dried so he can start again.
and never going to have a pen thats ran out.

The suggested age on the box is actually 18+ months (not 3 years as stated in the product description).

What a wonderful toy. Such a simple idea, but it works really well - just some water and lots of clean fun. Ideal to take on holiday too, especially if you have a baby/toddler that you are afraid will write on the walls!

a brilliant xmas present for my 19month old and my 3year old to do together, handy as its the same as painting just with out the mess after =) Came really quickly and in very good condition. Really happy

Purchased this for a weekend visit from my 15 month old granddaughter. She loved it! She enjoyed drawing over the 'hidden' images to see what was underneath and making her own drawings. The fact that it uses only water is an added bonus as she couldn't get messy or damage anything. She loved it so much that it's gone home with her!

The impact that this toy had on my two girls was huge. I was like a cop or judge who monitored the time they used the magic pen on the mat. Oana, my ten year-old daughter was fascinated by the multiple ideas she got to create her own drawings of the objects on the border of the mat. Emma, my two year-old daughter, simply doodled on the mat and exclaimed WOW whenever a new coloured animal or object was revealed on the mat.

All in all, it is a great invention, a safe, clean, fascinating way to spend time with your kids.

I bought this toy for my 2 year old daughter as she loves to draw and paint but it invariably ends with a stuggle to stop her writing on things she's not supposed to write on. This answered that problem. She has a magnadoodle but it's limiting in it's size. This flattens out on the floor and is large enough for her to draw loads of different things and spend time revealing some of the great pictures and letters too and telling me what they are. Overall, she has had hours of fun and for something so reasonably priced, had turned out to be one of the best things we ever bought for our daughter. I knocked a star off the fun side because you do have to keep refilling the pen a lot more than I expected and she's an impatient 2 year old so 2 pens would have been good so a friend could play too or to have ready for when the water runs out. I knocked a star off the durability too because although it does try out, a lot of water marks remained but it's nothing major and my daughter is none the wiser. There's no mess too as it's just water which is brilliant! Overall, it's 4 our of 5 but a great toy for the price and my daughter loves it. Just a shame there weren't 2 pens with it.
