Recently there was little, and finally no, black ink reaching the paper when using one of my several Epson C44 printers. Initially and having never had this problem before I thought it was a "dodgy" ink problem and I ordered more black cartridges from two suppliers. However, there was no improvement using the new black cartridges from either supplier. While waiting for the cartridges to arrive I had thought about it a little more and decided to get some cleaning fluid - just in case !
This was a wise decision. I removed the black cartridge and introduced a little of the cleaning fluid into the C44 where the cartridge sits into the printer head and simply left it for some hours. Initially there was little if any improvement and I added a bit more cleaning fluid. Perhaps a total of 24 hours elapsed in all but then the printer resumed normal operation and now, some two weeks later, all is still well - a good black image, clear to read as is usually the case. I had intended to contact the cartridge suppliers to tell them there was a problem with their ink but, thankfully now, I did not do so and it appears that the ink was OK and that the problem was a blocked jet, although one might argue that it may have been "thick" ink that caused that problem. So I will certainly keep the cleaning fluid to hand and use it as and when a similar problem occurs.

This is the dearest print head cleaner in the UK. A tiny bottle(100ml) costs £5.50 because you have to pay the postage otherwise its quite fantastic. Perhaps if you bought say 20 bottles in one go it might be possible to keep the postage cost at £4.95.

It comes in a plastic bottle but on the one I received the label was totally un readable, so it must be good stuff to remove all the ink from it. Caution to be take however as the fumes might or might not be toxic, not the sort of stuff to leave lying around. I have found that it does clean the printer heads quite well, but I have also found it can remove any perception of the real world, Use in a well ventilated place and I would also suggest taking care to keep away from any skin contact. Being able to read the label would be an advantage so as to know whats in the bottle in the months to come, or days if you have not heeded my warning as to ventilation. A good product that will clean your printer heads and all those spills you have after re filling ink cartridges

Wiping the print head works for a slight blockage. If this doesn't work, extract the ink and inject a few ml of the recovery fluid, then after a few minutes refill with ink.

Well blocked print head that cleaned on second application of this product . Tip - use an ear bud to apply mutiple times to the ink outlet which allows it to soak into the head and then leave for 10 mins prior towashing out with hot water. I did not leave it the first time and so only had partial sucsess . Used about 1/10 of a bottle . You may also wish to by the micro sizes hyperdermic needs that hold a few ml as these will work a treat.
