Having only just been introduced to The Faint through their remix of NIN's Meet Your Master on the phenomenal Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D, Fasciination is the first album by this electronica outfit I've heard, and I'm thoroughly blown away.
Lyrically, the band are faultless, and their instrumentation and delivery is subtle, yet provocative. Fulcrum And Lever slowly reveals an intriguing tale of foolish youth over a deliciously dark, almost hip-hop beat. The Geeks Were Right, the lead single off this LP bounces along with pure indie-driven energy, while album closer, A Battle Hymn For Children's cheerful electro beat is offset beautifully with deep and thoughtful lyrics 'if it's God against God, then the pawns are people, if it's both the same God, then the battle's over details.'
Please purchase this album and bask in The Faint's overwhelming glory. I'm off to buy their back catalogue now.
