5.0 out of 5 stars Sticky fingers
Bought to replace a much more expensive pan which has lost its non-stick after a few years. This seems, so far, to be a very good quality pan for the price and I am no longer scrabbling about picking out bits of egg etc,

2.0 out of 5 stars Is this really made by Meyer?
I have two major problems with this frying pan:

1). The actual pan has no branding on it whatsoever - I wonder whether Meyer just put their cardboard packaging over a cheap non-branded product.

2). The balance of the pan is poor. I find that unless the pan is cooking something relatively heavy it is very hard to balance it properly on my gas hob...

This review is from: Meyer Select Advantage Non-stick French Skillet Frying Pan, Black, 28 cm (Kitchen & Home)
I have two major problems with this frying pan:

1). The actual pan has no branding on it whatsoever - I wonder whether Meyer just put their cardboard packaging over a cheap non-branded product.

2). The balance of the pan is poor. I find that unless the pan is cooking something relatively heavy it is very hard to balance it properly on my gas hob. This has serious safety implications as you can imagine. The only way to balance the pan when frying - say - sausages, is to place it further back on the cooking ring meaning that the heat source is not in the middle of the pan.

Overall then, I could not recommend this pan. The pan's failings mean that there are many better alternatives.

It feels quite heavy as it's solidly built from steel.
The thick sandwich base both conducts and retains heat well so this pan won't let you down by cooling rapidly when frying meat or fish, leading to the food stewing in it's own juices instead of frying. The base makes a particulary good contact with ceramic or halogen hobs.
