5.0 out of 5 stars Must have giallo
Weird giallo with added glimpses of flair. As a big giallo fan I must admit this strange film is very endearing. Not the best, but far, far from the worst. Severin have once again pulled it out of the hat with this relatively obscure gem. Previously only released uncut in English by Redemption in the UK on VHS, its great to see this uncut on DVD. Recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars so bad it's almost good, but not quite!
It's a bad cheap psychedelic exploitation horror from Italy, that some have called a giallo, but it isn't. It's far nearer other cheap bad early 1970s horrors from Spain and the UK.

The plot revolved around a rather dysfunctional family, where the daughter gets flashbacks of being raped as a child whenever she makes love to a man (and she likes to get around!)...

It's a bad cheap psychedelic exploitation horror from Italy, that some have called a giallo, but it isn't. It's far nearer other cheap bad early 1970s horrors from Spain and the UK.

The plot revolved around a rather dysfunctional family, where the daughter gets flashbacks of being raped as a child whenever she makes love to a man (and she likes to get around!) She then enters a blood rage and kills them (generally by decapitation) and the rest of the family have to clean up the mess. This is done via an acid bath in an outhouse.

There are twists and turns a plenty throughout the film, and no-one's quite who they claim to be. The awful waxwork head decapitation scenes are hilarious, and a Nazi deathcamp flashback filled with naked girls being ushered into gas chamber showers helps ramp up the sleaze factor to 10.

The upside is that it's all very whacked-out sleazy stuff, and has some great psychedelic interiors, the downside is it just isn't a very good film. It's only really going to be of interest to connoisseurs of 60s/70s exploitation trash.

I agree with the previous 2 star reviews, this is a bad film. The problem being the nonsensical script, and strange characters. Its kind of like watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something where the entire cast is unlikeable. Fernando Sancho pops up for a bit and plays the same role he played in all his Westerns. Then he is killed. Im quite unsure what all this adds to the plot, as it doesn't really. Then there are several stupid twists at the end in quick succession, and I wasn't quite sure who was who and what was going on at all. The entire cast is arrested by the police and then it ends. The only scenes I liked and hinted at a film that could have been much much better was where they were dissolving the bodies of their victims in the acid bath. These scenes were great and hinted that the film could have been so much more macabre and sleazy than it ended up being. so not really recommended at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yawn!!, 20 Jun 2001
Pretty crap. Basic enough stuff about a weird family who cover up murders committed by their 'troubled' daughter. Has a twist ending that would have been interesting if the characters weren't all so carboard you'll have fallen asleep half-an-hour before it comes. The 'gore' is laughably amateurish and even the sex is boring. Stay away, unless you want a cure for insomnia.
