4.0 out of 5 stars Try a Gingerbread Mix
I have used both the Fairy and the Pumpkin cutters and both were successful. The secret is to use a recipe which is for Gingerbread Men! 4.0 out of 5 stars Try a Gingerbread Mix, 4 Jun 2010
This review is from: Kitchen Craft Let's Make Fairy Three Dimensional Cookie Cutter, Silicone (Kitchen & Home)
I have used both the Fairy and the Pumpkin cutters and both were successful. The secret is to use a recipe which is for Gingerbread Men! Keep the mixture as dry as possible, dip the cutter in flour before you cut each one and you can get excellent results. I did find the fairy wings a bit of a challenge the first time I did them but on subsequent makings I pushed the wings back towards the body before cooking to make sure they were firmly in place. My daughter tried the cutters with a shortbread biscuit mix and it was a disaster so the secret is definitely to go for the Gingerbread Men mix - and keep it dry and firm to make sure you get good definition of the markings. Not for children to make though - let them decorate afterwards.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fairy cookie cutter, 23 Jan 2010

This cookie is not for young children, even when I used it I couldn't get the fairy shapes out in one go, the wings always come off and my daughter was very disappointed that she couldn't use it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not fit for purpose, sadly :-(, 15 Nov 2012

As others have said, not for use when cooking with children.
The dough always gets stuck. I bake alot and have never managed to get the shape out intact!
The dough breaks off in the wing sections. You spend alot of time picking dough out of the cutter before repeat attempts.
Very frustrating. Choose an alternative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tricky than the others, but does work., 21 April 2014

I have a number of these cutters, Snowman, Father Christmas, Christmas Tree, Easter Egg. They all require patience and a child can't take them out of the cutter, you need to gently tease them out with a sharp pointed knife and run it round to release the outer edge before teasing again to release the whole cookie. It takes time, but I am so much quicker at it after practice. This one is the most tricky and I haven't been able to get both wings out intact, the good thing is you just push the wings towards the body when it is on the baking tray and during cooking the dough spreads and re attaches the wings. Other ones easier.
