5.0 out of 5 stars As Good As A Wet Shave?
Philips HQ7390/17 Williams F1 Mains Rechargeable Shaver
I'm the most sceptical person when it comes to electric shavers. I have resisted the girlfriend pushing me into buying one. Anyway, this one came down to a price (not on Amazon, sorry) and so I thought I would give it a try.

It is excellent. I mean, really... It's very quiet, very low vibration (if...

I'm the most sceptical person when it comes to electric shavers. I have resisted the girlfriend pushing me into buying one. Anyway, this one came down to a price (not on Amazon, sorry) and so I thought I would give it a try.

It is excellent. I mean, really... It's very quiet, very low vibration (if that is something that people worry about, I don't know) and really does a very good job. I was really surprised...

I like the fact that I can flip open the top and give it a good wash under a tap and there is no HUGE base station for cleaning. Seems low maintenance to me.

Anyway, that it... In summary, very close shave, easy to look after and does the job really well. And I have to point out, I have very thick hair so it's a bit of job even with a wet razor!

I was dubious about buying a rechargable shaver as it takes ages to shave with my mains powered Philips shaver, but, reading the review above i thought i would give it a go. This shaver is amazing, it feels as though i have used a wet razor, i have never used an electric shaver that shaves so well. I cannot use a wet razor as it cuts my face up every time but even if i did, it would not "do it" any better than this.
11/10, thank you Philips.

This razor was bought for my husband for Xmas and I was not sure if it was the right one. He is so pleased with it, he has a really close shave and it is so quick. The shaver itself is so quiet when he is using it. I really got him a lovely present.

This is the first time I have tried using an electric shaver and I am hugely impressed. The build quality is excellent. The battery seems to be very good as I'm on my 8th or 9th shave since the first charge and it's still going strong. It's quiet and the shave itself is excellent.

It says in the booklet that it can take 2-4 weeks for your skin to adapt to using an electric shaver and it's quite right. Each shave gets closer and I am completely free of even the tiniest patch of shaving rash for the first time in a decade!

Also, a very nice design in conjunction with Williams. Maybe not as important a fact as the function and usability of the shaver but true nonetheless.

I would happily recommend both this product and Amazon. I ordered on Saturday afternoon (free super saver) and it arrived on Wednesday - excellent.

Just arrived - Just used it - awesome - it left 1 or 2 stands of hair which i had to go over couple of times - but i think once i understand how I need to use it on my face in particular - it will be perfect - the quality of the shave was like doing a wetshave followed by a second pass without scraping off all your skin. Well worth the buy.

Good shaver-good price from amazon. I have used electric shavers for many years both foil and rotary and for the mid price range shaver this is as good as it gets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Philips HQ7390/17 Review, 29 Aug 2010
This review is from: Philips HQ7390/17 Williams F1 Mains Rechargeable Shaver (Personal Care)
I have had my Philips HQ7390/17 shaver for a month and have shaved each day (I timed it at about one and a half minutes for each shave) and the low charge light has just illuminated. I had a microscreen twin head shaver before which was a lot noisier - the Philips is very quiet with just a 'purring' sound. The Philips doesn't seem to give quite as close a shave as the microscreen, even after giving time for my skin to become accustomed to the Philips as per the operating instructions; but, it is still acceptable. On balance I prefer the Philips HQ7390/17 to my previous microscreen shaver and would recommend it with four stars out of five. The flip-out beard trimmer is sharp and effective. Cleaning is easy and running under the tap works well, with leaving open to dry afterwards.

I HAVE HAD A FEW ELECTRIC SHAVERS IN MY TIME BUT NOTHING EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THE PHILIPS HQ7390/17, AND NOTHING EVER GOT SO CLOSE TO MY SKIN EITHER.
NO MORE GOING OVER THE SAME AREA TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO GET A CLOSE SHAVE.
I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THE SHAVER THAT I BOUGHT ONE FOR MY SON FOR CHRISTMAS, AND THAT'S THE TRUTH.

Bought this shaver a month ago - it's actually no different functionality wise to the HQ7380 - which is £10 cheaper - all you are paying for really is the snazzy F1 paint job....

Performance wise this is the best Philishave I've ever owned - the first one that can truly complete with wet shaving with a blade. It really is that good. The machine is also superbly quiet as well when running (although to be fair most of my older Philishaves have got progressively rougher and louder with age). As it has an electronic start/stop you won't be able to keep on shaving until the battery dies a slow death - it just suddenly cuts out on you seconds after the low battery light comes on....aargh! Charging time is very short - thanks to a Lithium Ion cell.

The fact that you have can't use a standard mains cord will be a pain to some - that's the price you pay for the shaver being waterproof, as the mains transformer is built into the cord instead of in the shaver itself (remember you might need a slightly bigger toilet bag for when you travel with it!).

Personally I don't rinse it under a tap, although you are able to - I clean it the old fashioned way. Overall very happy and would reccommend it!
