4.0 out of 5 stars Mind stretching stuff
Really enjoying my first issue. I've already learned a lot, some of which may even be useful!

The quality of writing is high, and the breadth of subjects covered is pleasing.

My only (minor) grumble is that it has a USA centric feel.

Heartily recommend for anyone who wants to exercise the grey cells...

1.0 out of 5 stars No app? No offline viewing? Not on apples newsstand?
The content is great but it is shocking and disappointing that they aren't even trying to reach a 21st century audience

5.0 out of 5 stars CLEAR FUN AND INTERESTING, 21 Aug 2010
This review is from: Technology Review (Kindle Edition)
The cover article was hard-hitting - recent research that may get HIV-infected people 'cured' of a lifetime course of drugs through gene therapy. It was clearly written with no techno-babble; as easy to read as 'Hello' magazine. It put it clearly in context. The articles are provocative. Did you know Korea is the global fastest network - three times faster download time than the USA at 30 megabytes per second? And the cost of solar panels is reducung so fast it is becoming a viable source for generating sustainable electricity nationally.
There is an excellent new products section: for both personal use - a hand air-conditioning system, a charger that switches itself off when the job is done - and business - a bomb detector, an electonic device to prevent asthma attacks. Unsure where to place electronic towel folder!
Fully recommend it to anyone who likes to know what is happening in the world - but if you all read it I won't be able to seem more wise and knowledgable than everyone else so DONT BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and thought provoking, 24 Jun 2012
This review is from: Technology Review (Kindle Edition)
I find this bimonthly (i.e. every 2 months, not twice a month - that would be fortnightly! - note to previous reviewer) magazine a useful and nicely condensed summary of new things happening in technology that is available in an easily packaged readable format offline (i.e. on my hardware Kindle or on the kindle app on my Android phone).

The articles are usually all of interest. Some are long in-depth articles ~2-4000 word length and then there are many more short articles in the ~400 word length. I could probably gather the same info from their website or from others for free but this e-magazine puts everything in one place. The editorial input to make these collection of articles work as a coherent magazine is also a sterling effort.

I gave this five-star rating because it's my favourite periodical, with a great range of articles easy to read and accessible to all with good text-to-speech function

1.0 out of 5 stars complete rubbish, 20 Feb 2011
This review is from: Technology Review (Kindle Edition)
This is a rip-off. I subscribed to this on the 13th of January, and it is now the 20th of February, so I should have received at least 2 issues since then since it is bi-monthly. However, the latest issue on my library is the one of December 24th. As if that's not enough, there are only 2-3 proper articles in the issue, the rest being little 300 or 400 word essays that a 12 year old could write, and half of the magazine is full of advertisements. I'm un-subscribing right now...
