Watched this on TV when it first came out, and I was present at the match shown at the start - Everton - and Spurs gave out silly foam hats with a cockerel that stood up at the front. I still have it.
.
This is a lovely tale of schooldays innocence and friendship, woven around Spurs glory, glory days of the early '60s. Wonderful stuff!

Whilst the film has obvious appeal to Spurs supporters, given the basic plot, it is also a film that has a wider appeal. The plot is described in the product notes, so I won't dwell on that much further. Rather, I would point out that this is a film that Spurs fans have been trying to get their hands on on DVD for some considerable time, with the American release (thankfully produced in zero ragion) being imported in considerable numbers over the last couple of years. This UK release appears to have slipped out - why haven't 4dvd put announcements or advertisements in Spurs Monthly, organised a competition for the programme in order to publicise the release or even arranged to have the DVD sold in any of the Spurs shops? Believe me, if more people were aware that it was out there, they would sell more copies.

This film is a wonderful and underrated gem. Although it centres around the goings on of 4 totenham hotspur supporters in the early 1960,s the film really isnt about football but more about the obssessions that teenagers can have and how it affects thier daily lives. In this instance the 4 football fans are girls and the main focus is on the main character, although her name is julia she calls herself danny, after danny blanchflower, the totenham captain and her childhood idol.

Totenham are on the verge of becoming the first football club in england to win the league title and FA cup double in the 20th century, and against the backdrop of julia,s unhappy situation at home where her parents are on the verge of breaking up combined by the reluctance of the childrens school to accept thier hobby, the girls have to find a way to get a cup final ticket and they will do almost anything to achieve this, which often gets them into trouble with hilarious consequences.

Those glory glory days, is bittersweet, its sad at times, its upbeat at times and its also very funny in parts, its well played by all the actors and actresses. The setting is 60,s london and fits in well with the film, the background music compliments the mood of the characters at the time and its also based on a true story. If your a totenham hotspur fan, you will love this, if your not, it dosent matter, you will love it too, even if you hate football you will love this, its one of the best but almost unknown films ever made and it certainly deserves a bigger share of the limelight. A message to modern film producers, theres very little voilence in this film, absolutely no sex or bad language and no computer generated images, so there is proof that great films can be made when you use imagination, believable characters and plot.

Probably the most engaging football movie of all time. You don't have to support Spurs to enjoy this, although it increased the pleasure. The idea of girls REALLY going out of their way to watch football in the early 1960s is a reminder of how far society has moved on (in the right direction).

Took me back to the great days of 60's football. A lovely film made better knowing that it was a true story.
