4.0 out of 5 stars does what it should
Had these mudguards on my last bike and got them for my latest. yes they are that good. easy to put on and take off. thin stream line and it stops surface water being flung up my back or in the face of the cyclist behind me. versus
1.0 out of 5 stars misleading and disappointing.
Advert states they are race blades so assumed they would fit a race bike. They do not come with aero adapters and therefore the front mudguard didn't fit.. In order to get the rear to fit in a position that that it didn't rub the tyre it bulged the guard in the middle. Absolute rubbish and I do not recommend them for a felt f95 with aero blade forks

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to fit and remove, and very inconspicuous, 27 Jan. 2014

This review is from: SKS Race Blade Mudguard Set
I bought these mudguards to fit on a 700c x 23mm wheel/tyre size road bike which has very little clearance between the tyre and brakes. The guards overcome this problem by not actually passing through the forks/seat stays, but simply ending at the brakes. It's an obvious solution really considering most of the wheel spray comes from the trailing edge of the tyre, which is the part covered by these guards.

At just 297grammes they are constructed of a light yet very strong and flexible CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate) plastic with an aluminium foil strip inner layer to provide rigidity.

Fitting is via the steel stays which are clipped onto the frame using strips of rubber. No tools are required and the contact points on the frame are all rubber to avoid scratching the paintwork.

Fitting for the first time took me a little while to get the required clearance from the tyres. This is achieved by carefully bending the stays until the right angle is reached to enable the guards to follow the curve of the wheel without rubbing. This is best done in small steps to avoid overdoing the bending (or `manipulating' as the instructions describe).

Once fitted, the guards look very slick. I fitted the black version and they are very inconspicuous and barely noticeable against black tyres. They can be easily removed by unclipping the bands - again no tools are required.

The only problem I encountered was occasional minor rubbing after inadvertently knocking the stays, but this is easily and quickly remedied by minor adjustment of the rubber bands on the frame.

4.0 out of 5 stars good quality, 19 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
good quality, light and fairly discrete against a balck tyre.

rear guard very quick and easy to fit and works perfectly.

Front guard is sitting in the garage as the mounts are at the wrong angle for my forks (I have a Speacilized Allez). You could bend the metal mounts to the correct angle but I'm confident I would break the guard as due to its lighweight design it feels like it would snap easily.

If both had fitted to my bike easily it would definitely have been 5 stars. Still four stars as the rear guard is the one i really wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as simple as it seems!, 12 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
B'Twin Triban 3 54cm with 700x23

fits ok, there was a bit of rubbing with the front guard - because of the bit where the mount meets the guard itself is adjustable, every time I hit a bump the guard would slide down and start rubbing the tyre. A £2.65 tube of superglue fixed that, however.

The screws work very well in holding the mount to the frame of the bike but there can be a tiny bit of sliding about, so just be wary. At the place that I work another triban 3 rider uses the SKS chromoplastics and just on inspection looks to fit a lot better.

Also just to clarify, these guards are actually are 700x25 upwards, but they fit on my 23s anyway.

And finally, the instructions that came with the product were absolutely appalling.

5.0 out of 5 stars SKS Race Blade Set, 26 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Mudguards for racing bikes. The items were well packed and protected. Instructions included. inspecting the items they are well made and the retaining and fitting supports are sturdy and light. The mudguards can be moved within the supports for tailored adjustments. Took about 2hrs to fit with different options to retain the supports to the bike frame. A rubber quick release fitting, (rubber stretch bands with spares), or a semi permanent fitting with plastic ties which need to be cut to remove mudguards. No screws needed to attach, so no damage to the frame. After fine adjustments and checks for secure fitting the mudguards fitted the frame as ' tailor made'. A 1hr road test to check for rattling of the items remained secure and quiet. The mudguards are German quality made as one would expect. l'll give 5 stars to this product as no faults were revealed. For lightweight and quality l would recommend these mudguards for racing or fitness road bikes.

Other reviewers say these are fiddly to install and adjust but I found them simplicity itself. Huge amount of adjustment on both guards, hug the wheel and stay put once adjusted, and are barely noticeable once on. Easy to pop off and on again in variety of weathers. Apparently they're brittle, so take care when adjusting, but otherwise these are just the ticket for keeping dry without making your road bike look chunky and overdressed.
