5.0 out of 5 stars VAST improvement over previous Blu-ray Releases.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE SCREAM FACTORY SPECIAL EDITION. If your reading this under the UK blu-ray listing forget it. That version is mediocre at best. If you can play Region A discs then go for the Scream Factory release. It's much better!

Now that's out of the way, and boy how I hate Amazons insistence on sticking these reviews on every other product out there,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Joe-shmo Blu-Ray review, not movie
We all know how good The Fog is, so skipping over the movie, let's get down to the quality of the Blu ray disc:

First off, the picture isn't a vast improvement over the DVD but it has its moments. The coastal scenes are bright enough and the night-time views of the ocean have a depth to them the DVD did not. But generally the picture is still quite soft and...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Fog, 29 July 2008

Made during John Carpenters most productive period The Fog was made after the seminal Halloween and was followed by Escape From New York and The Thing. While it may not reach the heights of those genre classics,The Fog remains a spooky and effective little ghost story. The film contains many Carpenter trademarks such as a sparse,self-composed electronic score and atmospheric widescreen camerawork. If you like to watch a good old-fashioned ghost story on a dark stormy night give The Fog a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars missing scene, 4 Oct 2011
This review is from: Fog [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
very good original film but the remake is rubbish but has anybody else seen the original ending where you see the priests head (hal holbrook) actually fly off and roll down the church aisle this scene seems to have been cut from the original film

Ok the storyline is a bit old and the monsters look a bit ropey to the end, but definitely an overlooked classic. From the beginning you're gripped by the grim story of a shipwreck and bad happenings at sea; then you hear the town go mad and the guy at the door trying to get in. A much overlooked classic which never seems to dull with age, definitely one worthy to be put alongside 'Assault on Precinct 13'.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 3 Sep 2008
This review is from: Fog [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
This is the first Blu-ray disc that I buy that is a disappointment. In the best scenes the image is only marginally better than on a good DVD and at its worst the image is so soft and lacking detail that it looks blured. I've seen average DVDs with much better average quality than this. Since I didn't have a DVD version of this specific film I can't compare it to previous DVD releases, but I doubt this is the best that can be done from a good master of the film.

If you have a previous DVD release, don't bother wasting your money in this release, unless your version is atrociously bad. But then again, there are some atrociously bad scenes in this version too.
