5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful voice, 7 Aug 2009

This is the second Madder Mortem album I have bought and again I am pleased with the decision to purchase. The album is more progressive than previous outings and at times it reminds one of Curved Air. Agnete's voice is as powerful as ever and the music is strong too. With the increasing number of female fronted metal bands, it can be difficult to stand out and this album is one that does manage to sound strong and different.

4.0 out of 5 stars Progressive Metal Pop?, 28 Mar 2011
This review is from: Eight Ways (Audio CD)
Madder Mortem have always been a band that's somewhat hard to describe. They don't really sound much like any other band I know, yet they are not distinct in a way that can be neatly packaged. While obviously a metal band, they are exceptionally talented in their use of influences from classical, industrial, death, doom and on this album even more pop and folk than before. Don't be mistaked though, this is not some average ADHD fusion band. What ever MM touches simply blends into the dark-yet-colourful fabric of their music. Somehow, it's all the way it's supposed to be.

The typically dark emotional scale of MM is there, but this time it's more of an undertone instead of a dominant element. There are some weaker tracks, mostly in the first half of the album, but overall it's another great Madder Mortem release.

Simply put, if you're not listening to Madder Mortem, you're missing out.
