This is the second cd from Azam Ali's latest musical outing. If you have heard the first cd then you will know what to expect from this as it is basically more of the same. Outstanding vocals and eastern arrangements and rhythms. The use of electronics is used to enhance the sound and is done very well. Interestingly the second cd is made up of acoustic versions of 8 of the 9 tracks on the first cd and give a wonderful insight into the source material.
All are written by Niyaz except for 2 Iranian folk tunes and one Turkish folk tune.
There is a deep spiritual feel to this cd. If you like mid-eastern music with a modern twist or the later sounds of bands like Dead Can Dance then I cannot recommend this cd high enough.

This is one of those albums that really is special, from the detailed gatefold packaging (notwithstanding the slightly freaky look of the band on the cover) with a good explanation of the music, through to the ethereal vocals and expert musicianship.

Having the two different versions gives you the chance to hear the different treatments, and are sufficently different that it's easy to play one after the other.

The songs are breathtaking, wonderful compositions with great melodies and is sung and played with one hundred per cent conviction.

The 'non-acoustic' album has nice modern touches without drowning out the traditional, or giving into anything that's a passign trend, and is 'modern' mainly in terms of production techniques rather than being 'dancy' or 'techno' in any way.

Anyone with an interest in Turkish/Persian style music with a contemporary twist should get this.

Fantastic album - Beni Beni has become a classic track. Follow up album Sumud (2012) is also just as good and well worth getting.

One great track and the others are just average. I was disappointed with this album. Also it was more electronic than I thought it was going to be, I thought it would be more traditional Sufi music. Maybe I should read more first but I had previously heard the one track I bought it for and thought more stunners would follow.

I have been playing this one a lot, love the voice.
A range of influences but no denying that the Turkish roots,
And do not be put of by the sacred nature of the theme it adds
to the overall intensity.

Nice touch to have disc 2 as an acoustic session
