Got a fantastic deal on these speakers through intergrating technology (sorry Amazon) but even if i'd paid RRP these speakers are worth every penny.
Polk Audio are an american company and there aren't many high street shops which stock their speakers (unfortunately) so you won't find many reviews for them and can't readily pop somewhere to audition them. I had a set of Polk seperates in my car quite a few years ago unfortunately they were stolen by some Horrible individual and when I replaced them with something else I was never quite as satisfied with the sound the polks produced, hence I had no qualms with buying these floorstanders without auditioning them... I wasn't dissapointed either! The sound that they produce is crisp and clear without being too harsh as some higher end speakers can be and the bass that they produce is really quite impressive considering the small size of the speakers. I have a wharfedale SW150 conected to my amp as part of a surround sound system and when I pair these speakers with the subwoofer you can really crank it to volumes that would have the police around in no time without a hint of distortion (although I don't condone this at all)I tried it for about 10 seconds just to satisfy my curiosity!
As part of my surround sound system they blend in perfectly and pick up every little gunshot, ricochet and glass smash big or small.

All in all they are a fantastic Pair of speakers which I would recommend to anybody.

Polk is a US manufacturer of quality Hi-Fi and car speakers. They are on par with Linn, KEF, etc. The price given is for a single speaker not speakers [pair]. The cherry finish is hard to find and was the main reason for my purchase. The speakers, when paired, provide a deep rich sound which is rare in modern speakers; I think this is due to the solid nature of acoustic wadding. Most of the sound is projected forward, and with a peak 200 watts, there is enough volume for anyone's requirement.
