**Don't buy this if you are left handed**
on 18 February 2012
I honestly cannot the fault anything about this board in terms of quality and build etc, In fact it's fab, great, exactly what I wanted .... except for one minor detail!
This board is made for right handed people, no ifs or buts, it simply does not work for lefties. The very sturdy and well balanced frame is set to one side and then curves (a bit like those big "banana" garden parasols in idea/design) so that you could sit to iron and get your legs under the board like a desk....the problem then becomes more apparent. To utilise this particular mode, the parking zone (which I especially liked as I scorch my way through several board covers a year) has to be on the right hand side....no good to a leftie at all! So ok you don't care about sitting to iron, you just like the parking zone? Turn the table so that the zone is at the right end for a leftie and that lovely sturdy frame curves ever so slightly out past the width of the board and then there is a bolt which fixes the part where the frame sections meet and which allows it to fold. This on me (5"8') is EXACTLY at knee height and the very first thing I did on opening the table was acquire a small bruise in that location!!.
I was impressed enough with the board to take the time to explore the underneath to see if the top could be turned around to make it work for me but alas no, the brackets used look to be specific to that particular part of the board and would not fit the other end :o(
So it was with much disappointment I had to phone Amazon and ask for a return on the grounds of "unsuitable for purpose" and the hunt for my perfect ironing board goes on.........
