This not only does what's expected but it also works in both directions.
The reason I bought this was because I needed multiple inputs going into the same plug in the line in, and this did exactly that, the only problem (but an expected problem), is that because you are taking multiple inputs it does reduce the strength of the individual inputs because it does not have any pre-amp, and it isn't powered. But for the little hack job that I bought this for, it works brilliantly.

If you are thinking about audio splitter, this one is it.
Its resonable in price and much better than the other ones.
Aside from having more sockets (sure you might think you dont need this many... but if you have friends and anything interesting to watch or listen to then all slots will be used up pretty quickly) the sound quality is pretty good. The volume of the sound does decrease slightly (barely noticable) with every extra headphone, but thats to be expected.
The mixing thing is more of a novelty. Its a challenge to find two songs that works...but can be kinda fun for those long road trips.

- works exactly as described, if you want to connect your 5.1 speakers to your ipod or mp3 player, or just share music with your friends in general, this is the perfect solution, thumbs up.

This product is quite good, i use it for my online radio station for guests headphones from my mixer, the headphone splitter is also able to have more audio streamed into it, for example when i'm in game i plug it in to my laptop and plug my MP3 player in as well so i can hear music as i play. AND DON'T FORGET TO LOOK IN THE BOX FOR THE OTHER GREEN WIRE UNDERNEETH THE MAIN COMPARTMENT, I ALMOST DIDDEN'T FIND IT.

I bought this so that i could connect my 7.1 Surround Sound system to my Zune. Without this i could only connect one of the 3 cables and with every other splitter i could only have been able to connect 2. This works perfectly to let me connect up the whole system and the quality is excellent. I dont notice any lessening of quality compared to when i have the system connected to a computer. I would recommend this to everyone trying to connect 5.1 or 7.1 systems up to an MP3 player or other audio device.

Edit: Turns out the build quality isn't as good as i was hoping for from Belkin. The connection started to break up a few months ago and now its followed the example of all cheap headphones ive seen and the cable going to the mp3 is tearing. I use it to plug in speakers, cordless headphones and wired headphones in PC simultaneously. Box also included a green 3.5mm headphone jack male-to-male 2ft cable.

Plugging in multiple headphones will cause the volume to reduce.

Having recently bought a LCD projector I wanted to host a drive-in-movie night during the warm summer nights. The only trouble is that I didn't want to disturb the neighbours. This headphone splitter was just the ticket. Easy to use and small enough to store in my laptop case this product enables 5 people to hear the same audio output from a laptop/ mp3 player or ipod. With a standard 3.5mm jack it is versatile. There is no sound loss or interference. No need to read instructions either simply plug it in to the player and connect upto 5 headphones. Perfect item for lying on the beach too and sharing the same music. A great buy!

This product is great! It is a great shape and easy to store in my laptop bag, the sound quiets a little when more headphones are plugged in but it is not noticeable to my standards, it is definitely worth the money!

The customer service was fine. The product arrived on time, in brand new condition, as expected and with no complications. The product itself is the standard 3.5mm jack input and for all 5 output points. It seems durable and long lasting and is made of good materials. Functionality is great. I was concerned it would send out a quiet signal after splitting analog but the sound volume and quality isn't affected by splitting as far as I can tell. I used it to hold an office cinema but I'm sure there are far better and more imaginative uses.

I was looking for something to attach multiple inputs to a set of speakers and it works perfectly. there's a slight reduction in volume but nothing very significant. not having to swap inputs all the time is fantastic
