The Nissin Di466 flashgun that I ordered from Foto - Koester is a terrific little ETTL unit, great value for money, versatile and "does exactly what it says on the tin". It makes a great slave unit to my Canon flashgun that is nearly 4 times the price. Highly recommended and the whole transaction through Amazon was hiccup free. Great.

I purchased this flash to use with the Canon G15 as the built in flash is somewhat pathetic (GN7) and problematic when used at lower ISO speeds. Given the dimensions of the G15 flash size was a factor, however I didn't want to compromise the recycle time and battery life so the obvious choice (Canon 270EZ) was out. Besides, the Nissin is half the price of the Canon 270ez. Given the low price I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent build quality. It actually feels very solid and the plastics used are both thick and high quality. Another nice surprise was that that the zoom head is electronically powered, not manual.

As for the performance I have to say that it works flawlessly in TTL mode. Indoor flash works best in bounce mode with the built-in reflector pulled out. I also purchased a Maxsima flash diffuser for it but I haven't found it to work any better than the flash's built in diffuser, in fact the Maxsima has a tendency to push the colour temperature to the warm side of neutral.

Due to the small sensor on the G15, slow ISO film speeds are essential for keeping image noise low. The fast f1.8-f2.8 28-140mm zoom lens coupled with the Di466's power (GN33) gives excellent range, even at ISO 200. This allows me to get equal image quality on the G15 to my Olympus micro four thirds at ISO 800 with it's slower kit lens (f3.5-f5.6) and still retain excellent flash distance and spread.

I can't comment on the flash unit's performance with Canon EOS cameras as I don't have one, or it's performance in manual mode as I don't use it, but I fully recommend anyone with a G series getting one of these if only for the ability to keep ISO speed low and therefore image quality high.

The flash works well, and has manual modes as well as using Canons automatic metering system.

You can also use it as a basic remote flash, by triggering it with your onboard flash.

I haven't really had chance to play with that feature yet, but you can create some cool effects, if you know what you're doing.

I would recommend as a cheap alternative to the Canon equivalent.

I was looking for a Canon fit, dedicated but simple flash for use by my niece. I received it on time and as a dedicated Canon user I tested it to see that it would do the job for my niece. I have to say I am very impressed, given the price. The gun performs well. The only downside is the PDF manual which is impossible to read easily on screen and does not print easily (I finally carved it up in Photoshop and printed it for her). I would have given it 5 stars if the manual had been printed.

Very good flash works also with standalone function - away from camera as second flash. Powered zoom in basic position - focus is changing. Good cooperation with Canon or Nikon cameras.

Solid unit with a good guide number to surpass the limited camera built in flash. Fixes securely to the camera with a locking ring,

First of all the build quality is good. But it doesn't allow you to use it off camera with a remote trigger so if you are looking to use this flash off camera I wouldn't buy this but if you are looking for a on camera flash then this good for it's money it does a good job.

As with many products that are cheaper than official canon products this works ok . It has a fast cycle time but you don't have the same control that you would have with a 'better', more expensive flash.

This flash can't do off camera flash, unless you use it in combination with a higher model Nissin flash. This flash is not compatible with hanel combi Tr remote. The flash does not fire for this model or the model above with the hanel combi Tr remote. This flash is disappointing as its basically not compatible with other equipment, so I found myself regretting buying it, as the only way I can use this as an off camera flash, is to buy the top model. Lower price was not really a saving, I now know why I should have brought a more expansive cannon flash.

I won't be buying a more expensive Nissin as they don't work with other equipment and make you feel trapped in a product lock in.

Ps this flash does not have a rotating head which is pretty important.
