As is typical for Paul Weller, you dont know what to expect but coming out of the other side of this musical masterpiece, you just hope we can expect more. Its not Wild wood but were all 15 years older now - its not illumination, thankfully as i could never get into that - in fact its difficult to compare this apart from saying Ive been waiting for him to produce something this good since Stanley Rd - ive not stopped listening to it and pick up something great each time. This is truly worth buying and giving the time it deserves to take it all in.

Brilliant. Mr Weller has created a musical masterpiece with 22 Dreams. Using all of his musical knowledge and qualities he has taken a logical new direction with this album without leaving his style behind. Strong tracks such as Echoes...and the superb God, plus the title track, are among the best he has ever done. On the deluxe version there is a better version ( in my opinion) of 22 dreams and Rip the pages up for old style Paul Weller fans. After the mediocre Studio 150 thing and the not badness of As is Now 22 Dreams is a return to the full force of the Modfathers talents.

Dad rock is behind him,i love Weller but this is the most diverse album he has ever knocked out, all the wrongs of TSC are knocked away, the incredible thing is you hear an echo of TSC but this time the Weaver has got it, the beauty of INVISIBLE is immense , song for Alice is a modern real MODS dream, LIGHT NIGHTS really comes across its a beauty,I could go on and on a true Weller fan since I heard the first burst of THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD" can`t claim any earlier, this is magic stuff,"where`er ye go"enjoy this album and enjoy it well.

Are we missing something?

Other retailers seem to have 22 tracks on this album - Amazon have only sold me 21. It is a great price, but I suggest shopping around, at least you will get all the tracks!

First, let me say that I have been a big fan of Paul Weller's since his days in The Jam. Second, I typically buy the LPs of albums I like, because they sound better than the CD or digital download equivalent. That is, of course, if the LP is sourced from the analog master tapes, or from high resolution digital (i.e., 24-bit 96kHz minimum). Unfortunately, some labels skimp and just use the CD (Redbook 16-bit 44.1kHz) digital files as the master for the LPs. That appears to be the case with this LP, as it exhibits all the characteristics of bad CDs: thin, flat sound, that is abrasive and has been significantly compressed and therefore has no dynamics. This was a difficult LP to listen to: I just wanted to take it off the turntable. What a waste, as the music on this LP is fine. The record labels should stop cutting corners and NEVER use CD masters as the source material for LPs. Good job Mr. Weller, very bad job, record label.

It strikes me how nobody is talking about how awful this record sounds. It is loud, compressed... It seems to have been mixed directly into an mp3 player; the saddest thing of all is that it has some of the better songs Weller has ever written... Someone has to do something with the awful sounding records released today, because nobody seems to notice.
