I bought these headphones after reading several highly positive reviews. However, when I first wore them I was very disappointed by the sound, which was thin and tinny. By pressing the ear pieces deeper into my ears, I noticed an immediate and massive improvement in the sound. All well and good, but you can't walk around with your fingers in your ears! To rectify the problem I found that the position of the ear piece could be altered by twisting it on the rubber frame so that the sound is directed down my ear canal rather than against the inside of the tragus (the bit of the outer ear that the phones sit behind). Each earpiece sits on a curved silver plastic tube. You need to grip this tightly as well as gripping the piece of rubber frame that comes out of the plastic frame. Twist the tube until it naturally sits in an angle relative to your ear canal. You will probably need to overtwist it, because the material is quite springly and will just return to its normal position. Give it a try, if you are experiencing similar problems. This little modification has turned my pair from One star quality to Five star quality.

I do not like headphones that totally seal in my ears, as this does not do much for my eardrums. Normal in-ear headphones simply fall out so often. I have tried the type that clip over the ear, which are better, but with some energetic exercises these still fall off. I like the fact that they sit in the ear, without sealing it, so give better volume than the type that sit outside.
This new Sony design is great, easy to use, comfortable and it stays in place (it is even splash proof) and of course the sound quality is as you would expect SONY (they were first tried with my 8Gb Sony Walkman, but they also improved the quality from a Philips MP3 player). At this price I think these are great value and quality.

The ear fit is very comfortable and does not slip when running.
The sound quality is adequate for the price.
The cable quality seems appropriate for the price.
The cable is aligned 90 degrees to the jack, this helps prevent sharp jerks from pulling the jack out when on the move. If you are using a bulky running carry pouch for your MP3 player there may not be enough clearance to fully insert the jack - there is about 4mm of clearance.
Overall a good set of headphones that will do the job well but won't set the world on fire.

I bought these so I could go jogging, but they are so big (i'm a guy and have big ears)that when I jog with them they rattle around and even fall off. I would not recommend you to buy them. My previous panasonic wrap around the ears type (not a complete loop like these Sony ones)are 100 times better and I willbe re-investing in a similar pair. Buy these at you own risk but prepare to be disappointed. Also you have to rip open the plastic casing in such a way that returning them is really not much of an option.

I don't know How Sony do it, but they keep coming up with better and better headphones. I've had a few pairs from them, and never been disappointed. I bought these to replace some Sennheiser ones which were new, only worn a couple of times, but were so very very substandard compared to even the cheapest of Sony headphones. I'll never buy Senns again they're rubbish, just cheap bass sound.
I know I can always buy Sony in future and be delighted with them. Buying on-line can be awkward if you haven't seen the product...I'd never seen these, but trusted Sony enough to buy anyway. Brilliant bargain.

I, like most people, have spent lots of time and money trying to find the perfect earphones for use in the gym and in the majority of cases have ended up disappointed. These seemed like they were ideal due to the enclosed earloop design (having a hook or a loop is the ONLY type of earphone that works comfortably in the gym, believe me), the in ear piece is ideal for comfort, as they don't dig into your ear, and as long as the hook/loop holds them in place the sound quality from Sony is always good with excellent bass.

These started off brilliantly, great sound volume and bass, stayed fixed in place in my ear (only get these if you have above average sized ears), and comfortable. I had finally found the perfect pair...

But, then the big problem. I do tend to sweat in the gym (who doesn't?) and this includes in the ears too... all of a sudden the sound faded completely, to a whisper. Rubbish, I thought I had a faulty pair. But then on the next trip to the gym they were again perfect to start of with, I started sweating again, and hey presto same thing happened, and then for a third time too.

It appears they are NOT sweat or splash resistant and need to dry out before working again. This is a massive disappointment from Sony as I was previously using MDR-J20s from Sony with exactly the same earpiece and they don't have the same problem although they are earhook so can hang off your ear quite frequently.

Sort these out to be sweat/splash resistant and they would be perfect. A shame.

Being a sport scientist I spend a lot of time on bikes, treadmills and out running. And being a sport scientist, I also understand how important music can be motivation...

I've gone through loads of 'sport' headphones, but these are by far the best.

They fit my ears perfectly and stay put, even when orienteering training on rugged terrain where my head is moving around quite a lot and where all my other headphones have failed.

I must admit though, if you have small or very large ears then these may not work for you! My ears are aprox. average-large size (I don't know how to measure ears!!!) and they fit perfectly.

Only downside is that I find the clip extremely hard to open when trying to attach it to my clothing.

So overall - these are the best headphones I've ever used for running that actually stay put and give good sound quality, but don't block out too much noise, so I can still hear traffic etc.

I've tried lots of ear phones designed for sports/on the move and have been mainly disappointed, particularly with canal phones. I've found that they don't stay in the ear, even after changing the pads, the sound is often poor and the drivers not powerful enough.

These score in several ways: the unit fits on the ear and is held securely in place by ear bands. Because it's on the ear not in it the driver can be bigger. The 13mm driver sounds great and is significantly louder than other phones I've tried, so my mp3 player isn't flat out.

Absolute bargain - just about to order another set.

These headphones fit well and sound great ....comparable to the Sennheiser PMX-80 Sport X II, that I also own. The big problem is that if you sweat a lot in the gym, the sweat can run into your ear and stop the earpiece from working ..... this does not break the headphones, they are fine when they dry-out, but once this happens, even if you wipe them (and your ear) with a towel, there is still no sound from that earpiece (or it's so dull that you can't hear it). This generally happens to me after 25-30 mins of hard aerobic training (to my right ear!), which is a bit rubbish as I try and train for 45-60mins! Maybe I have a mis-shapen right ear and maybe you don't sweat as much as me ..... in which case, these are cheap and great quality and a big improvement over the standard ipod headphones. For me though, they are of limited use. I get the same problem with the Sennheiser's, but at least they continue to work if you wipe them!

these are made for a specific size of ear which most definitely was not the same as mine. The were much too big and in fact, fell off my ears with the slightest movement. I'd hoped to wear them for running, but that will not be possible in the least.
Dissapointing.
