5.0 out of 5 stars Clever game for Simpsons fans of all ages
After picking up and being impressed by version 2 of the regular '20Q' (see separate review), I keenly purchased this version too, being a huge fan of 'The Simpsons'.

The design is in a nice, amusing pink donut design, with 'sprinkles' as the buttons, and with a bite taken out (no doubt by Homer!). It is a little bulkier than v2 of the regular version (though...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun for a while
Fun for a limited time. Not as good as original 20Q as, obviously, the possibilities are reduced, as there are only so many characters in the Simpsons. Having said that, my daughter has enjoyed playing it if only for a short time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever game for Simpsons fans of all ages, 7 Jan 2010

After picking up and being impressed by version 2 of the regular '20Q' (see separate review), I keenly purchased this version too, being a huge fan of 'The Simpsons'.

The design is in a nice, amusing pink donut design, with 'sprinkles' as the buttons, and with a bite taken out (no doubt by Homer!). It is a little bulkier than v2 of the regular version (though not severely so), maybe based on version 1, which I have not seen in person.
It does not have the optional on/off backlight as v2 of 20Q does, but has the display lit at all times, making the text and animations nice and easy to see.

The game is as smart as the regular version, cleverly guessing just about anything to do with the 'Simpsons' universe. Instead of the regular game's "animal, vegetable, mineral or other" first question, Simpsons 20Q starts with "person, place, thing, or unknown", and from there sets about guessing what's on your mind. I thought it might be quite limited compared to the regular version, but it has a large database of Simpsons-related properties that thankfully prevents this.

I've played it a number of times, and as yet have only beaten (as in, out-guessed) it twice - once when I was thinking of the Springfield Library (to which it came close, suggesting the Springfield Museum); the other, more obscure, was the 'inanimate carbon rod' (from the fifth season's 'Deep Space Homer', in case you're wondering!). Maybe that second one was a little TOO obscure, but the game none-the-less still has a vast inbuilt database, and is very good at guessing the Simpsons related-person or item that you are thinking of.

As with the normal 20Q, there are little bits of text (mostly Simpsons quotes) and animations between some questions. Although these are fun at first, I did find them a bit irritating after a while. Although most can be skipped by pressing the Yes button, I would have preferred an option to disable them completely. But that is my only real gripe with this otherwise nice item.

This is a really nice little, clever game that should appeal to 'Simpsons' fans of all ages. Perfect to either treat yourself, or as a gift for any fan of the show. For under a tenner, I find it good value for money, considering how much game-play I've already had out of it. At very least, it might help keep me busy until Channel 4 finally decide to show some "new" episodes!
