Sonic Underground is probably the "black sheep" of the Sonic cartoon/anime series. It stands out on its own and is very different compared to the rest of the cartoons that were produced. It was originally created by the request of SEGA to promote the release of Sonic Adventure on the doomed Dreamcast console.

Sonic Underground is about three siblings Sonic, Sonia and Manic who are part of an underground resistance group who is battling the evil tyrant Doctor Robotnik in order to free their planet Mobius from his rule. Also the three siblings are searching who their mother Queen Aleena who has been on the run ever since Robotnik took over and is the true ruler of the planet. Sonic, Sonia and Manic also have three medallions that chang einto music instruments that can be used as weapons and in each episode they perform a song related to the plot of the episode.

The series was very unique in the fact that Sonic had family members, the absence of Miles "Tails" Prower and that really didn't resemble the video game series. I do not know how it fared in the ratings or even what TV channel it aired but the series was cancelled after the first season. But I feel that the series is a hidden gem, the episodes are actually pretty enjoyable and it is good to see the changes that the characters go through and it portrays Sonic and his family as bickering brothers and sisters with adds some realism. Some of the plots were actually a bit interesting for a children's TV show with the characters going through some hard and punishing moments on their as it seemed never ending quest to find their mother.

Though the one thing I have to critise, is the songs. Most of them are pretty bland, boring and forced aswell as the singing voices really not sounding like the actual character's voices. Also to how the series ended and how we could not find out what would happen once Sonic, Sonia and Manic reunited with their mother.

I would recommend this to any Sonic fan, people really need to take out osme time and appreciate Sonic Underground for what it is. Plus its another fantastic value for money, 40 episodes for under £20 especially during the credit crunch, and it should put you out of the blues from it to.

This box set contains all of the Sonic Underground episodes as it states, plus a few extra features of interest. Its a brilliant collection for any fan of the show, the discs work great and I can't say I found anything wrong with it. Definitly a worthy buy for fans of the show and fans of Sonic looking for something different.

the series was cancelled towards the end so if you know sum of the story there looking for the mother to finally defeat robotnic this never happends so calling it a complere series is politically incorrect and correct if you get what i mean because it does contain all the episodes uptill it got cancelled but the story never got finished

My 8 yr old watches this show on tv and wanted to see it from the beginning. It is a very long series about 14 hours long so it will keep him busy for a while. Great series for kids who like Sonic.

This show never aired where I lived as a kid I didnt even know what it was, am collecting all stuff I used to watch as a kid and have the other two sonic and got this for the collection, Its a pretty decent show, more underground, no pun intended and is grittier. The songs are some good some bad and is a good show, Its like the classic Sonic show not Sonic X
