Lego kick off their 2008 releases from The Clone Wars movie with the fantastic Magnaguard Starfighter. The model is a very accurate representation of the starfighter and it is packed with features.
The cockpit opens with the movement of a slide mechanism underneath, the aft body flips open and reveals two red tipped flick missiles inside, the entire length of the engine covers lift up and the two gun pods on either wing rotate a full 360 degrees. In the aft tip of each wing there is a clip which stores the electrostaff weapons that the Magnaguards use.
The bonus of this kit is that it has 2 IG-100 Magnaguard droids with it. This is the first time these have been released and are a welcome addition to the Star Wars Lego collection. Each one is armed with an electrostaff and I can see collectors buying a couple of these kits to get enough bodyguards for General Grievous.
The kit comprises 402 pieces (not including figures, weapons and missiles) and takes about 45 minutes to build. It measures 29 cm across, 28 cm long (along the engines) and 13 cm wide at the main body. There are 10 decals to apply and the ship is ready to do battle with the Clone Troopers in the V-19 Torrent Starfighters.
An absolute must have and a great looking fighter for any collection.

My Son Zachary (7) says:
This kit arrived on the 9th of April in instead of the 12th which was the earliest it would get here. It has a small lever on the bottom of it and you push it forward to open the cockpit. The magnaguards are quite complicated to build but I managed in the end. It has hatches on the wings and when you open them up you can see their electro-staffs hidden for storage. There is a hatch at the back that you can open and there are two flick fire missiles but the only bad thing about it is that when you try to fire them with one finger the whole hatch will come off. The grabbers havn't got such a tight grip to the fighter. The grabbers attach to the hatch which attaches to the fighter. When you get used to it, it works a treat.
Great toy, pretty much very durable when you don't push down on the wings. If you do, it breaks but not very much.
This is the second day I have got it and it is still as much fun as yesterday.
Lego Star Wars is my best subject now!

Dad (42) says: Zachary had fun building it and enjoyed the cockpit mechanism and other features. Looks like a good kit and he likes it alot.

My kids love all things Lego and this is no exception. Never had any issues with any of the many Lego toys bought over the years.

When i bought this at Argos (not Amazon) i thought this would be a brilliant kit, i was wrong! Main structural bricks were missing completely, it kept on falling apart and breaking so instead i broke it up and used for spare bricks. Admittedly though if all the bricks were there it would have been good but it wasn't in my case.
