4.0 out of 5 stars Deicide - Till Death do us Part, 11 Jun. 2008

This review is from: Till Death Do Us Part (Audio CD)
The world of Deicide has been a little confusing as of late, what with Glen Benton not being able to tour, and guitarist Ralph Santolla leaving the band and joining Obituary. When I heard they were working on a new album I was a little... pessimistic.

This album however, is one of Deicide's better releases. It's basically a more old school deicide album but with the production values of the Stench of Redemption album. The riffing is intense as always, drumming faster than ever, and Benton's vocals as evil as you'd expect!
Also with Ralph back on guitar for the album, the solo's are plentiful and insanely skillful. I also found that his lead performances on this album were an improvement on the Stench of Redemption material.

But other than getting faster anf more skilled, something major has changed within Deicide; the lyrics. Perhaps the thing Deicide is known most for is their mixture of tongue in cheek and near poetic preaching of satan. After all, Deicide does translate to 'god death', or something like that, which gives you an idea of what this band WERE all about. This is now gone. Not completely, but close enough. The lyrics on this album deal mainly with hate, and wanting people to die. It's a little hard to swallow at first... the idea of Benton yelling out the word heartache still hurts... but it still fits with the music and is probably something a lot of people will be able to see past...

Overall, if you're a fan of Deicide, or want to check them out, this is definently worth getting, with some of Deicide's better material and good modern production values. If you don't like death metal or Deicide however, there's definently nothing here that will appeal to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars great death/black, 17 April 2014

It seems deicide is the only band of the circuit, ie, florida/usa, which is really in process of evolution, one very good record after the other with classical riffs and pure blasting energy. While other bandas already seem boring with their new CDs, like Morbid Angel or Marduk, Deicide keeps the old formula of grinding sound and macabre lyrics, without losing the creativity and excitement.

this is without doubt the best Deicide album , more than that its got to be one of the best death metal albums ever, i hope they continue in this direction , for me the standout tracks are in the eyes of god and not as long as we both shall live ,but the other tracks are brilliant aswell , not a lot more to say other than its almost perfect and every metal fan should buy this.

Evolution has created the perfect band to make the perfect album. This is mature and 'ear-grabbing' music as if tailor-made to give me maximum audio enjoyment.
