5.0 out of 5 stars Not knowing whether to laugh or cry
Sometimes you watch a film and come away from it thinking that you have seen something genuinely unique and astonishing. The problem arises when the film is about a single person. Just watching the frenetic genius of Zizek and his formidable honesty forces a feeling of complete inadequacy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slight
In the model of the film on Derrida, the direction of this documentary gives relatively little insight into its subject's thought. Too many sections simply follow the him around his daily business, which is not the most exciting. This review is from: Zizek! [2007] [DVD] (DVD)
In the model of the film on Derrida, the direction of this documentary gives relatively little insight into its subject's thought. Too many sections simply follow the him around his daily business, which is not the most exciting. Whilst he is undoubtedly quite a spectacle, I have little interest in seeing in which drawer Slavoj keeps his pants, or which of his children's toys he likes best. If 'Domestic Zizek' is your thing, this is probably the DVD for you. If not, you should buy The Pervert's Guide to the Cinema, where we see much more of the entertaining, imaginative and insightful thought that makes Zizek compelling.

This film is sensational - it is wonderful to see someone who is absolutely burning with ideas, genuinely funny and completely human. His lecture on Casablanca in the deleted scenes is worth getting the DVD alone.

You watch the film, trying to keep up with the man, learning and laughing at the same time.

Really something.

This was recommended to me and lived up to the praise. Thought-provoking, entertaining, Zizek is a larger than life character. I shall watch it again. And again.
