R. A. Caton "Arcaton" (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tex Avery: Music... (Audio CD)
This CD is an interesting item; it consists of soundtrack extracts from a number of Tex Avery cartoons and as such is a bit like listening to a cassette recorded off the TV (although the sound quality is excellent)
It helps if you know the cartoons in question - you'll find yourself mentally replaying the pictures as you listen to these tracks. "Three Little Pups" is incomplete (hardly surprising given the number of extremely visual gags in that short) - the truncation occurs during the sequence when the dogcatcher (voiced laconically by Daws Butler in the same way he would later voice Huckleberry Hound) ends up with a kettle over his head with a stick of dynamite up the spout.... walking along with smoke coming from the kettle he says "Man sure gets dark early this year" walks into his own van "Hey y'all! put on your lights!", cue *explosion*..... with the kettle splayed round his neck like a ruff, the punch line: "thank yuh".....
That gag isn't there, but the sequence where he gets enkettled is.
Like I say, an interesting CD, probably more for Avery fanatics. But definitely acceptable.
