4.0 out of 5 stars I cant remember the last time I was this impressed with a debut album
I heard Dust on one of those music channels on TV and was hugely impressed. So much so I took a gamble on buying Royworlds debut cd - and I'm glad I did.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gathering 'dust'
I bought this cd on the back of the singles 'Dust' and 'Man in the machine' but unfortunately these two tracks are as good as it gets really.
Royworld's music has a 1980's feel to it and reminds me of groups like The Blue Nile, Living in a box, Talking Heads ect and much like their music i doubt it is music that will last the test of time.
Heavily produced with...

This band are old school. Old school in that there isn't just one decent song on an album. Where there's a collection of songs built with strong hooks and quality ideas. Songs that you want to keep hearing and upon repeat listenings you hear new things.
This album has clearly been put together with some care & thought. The only weak track for me is Elasticity, but that's only personal taste. That track is soon overshadowed by current single Dust and the fantastic Brakes. But the highlight for me is Astronaut.
I can hear the influence of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush in these guys music and that's no bad thing.

These days bands have to sink or swim on their debuts and with Royworld I sincerley hope this is the start of a long career as they've certainly hit the ground running with Man in the Machine and I'm very much looking forward to hearing where they go from here

I saw them at Glastonbury and they were my surprise act of the festival. Whilst I admit that this album is carried mainly by three tracks: 'Dust', 'Brakes' and 'Man in the Machine', there are other good ones on there.
The sound-style is something like The Killers crossed with Keane. I rather like it. Well worth the buy.

I first heard them on Radio2 and have been waiting with baited breath ever since for the album.

It doesn't disappoint - it is truly uplifting and heartfelt stuff.

Best indie/pop since New Radicals and Gay Dad. Out-epics Doves Some Cities (just about :) )

I had never heard of Royworld until browsing music on iTunes, when a link suggested people who liked Coldplay might like 'Royworld'. I listened to a couple of previews and decided it was definitely my type of music. Strong melodies, good production quality, slightly rocky and definitely 'poppy'. Also liking The Guillemots, I can well believe that there were a fantastic support band on their tour. I would liken their music to 'The Feeling' - instantly likeable.
If you buy this album and like indie music, I don't think you will be disappointed.

This year saw the release of the debut album by Royworld and excellent stuff it is too!!
Normally I listen to debut albums with an air of caution, knowing full well that it is often the work of a band that have yet to reach their full potential.
However, while Royworld have yet to explore the finer points of their detail, there is definitely enough going here to reassure the listener that there is more to come in the future.

Good stuff (4/5)
Listen to: "Dust"

Saw this band supporting (I think!) We are Scientists and I was well impressed! The vocalist actually sounds better and more prominent in the mix live as opposed to the cd! His vocals remind me of depeche mode/adfinem style electropop.

Very good album, Science and Wish Ourselves Away are my favourite tracks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Royworld are going to be BIG, 30 May 2008
This review is from: Man in the Machine (Audio CD)
I recently heard Royworld live at the UEA where they supported the Guillemots.

It was a classic example of the support band being better than the main act.

Their sound is refreshingly big; the producer has definitely had some fun with lush reverbs and compressed pianos throughout. Add this to a strong vocal, catchy riffs and atmospheric soundscapes.

Royworld are going to be BIG

The boys have been Jo Wileys record of the week twice, are fantastic live and write brilliant songs. Looking forward to having the album in my grubby little paws and then seeing them at Glastonbury. The album is refreshing in a market flooded with manufactured pop bands and ultra-trendy indie kids. Beautiful songs & lyrics, buy it now!
