5.0 out of 5 stars Seagulls flying high, 22 Oct 2008

This album marks the pinnacle of the career of one of the best known syntho bands of the 1980s. A chronological trip through the first three seagulls albums is a bit like taking a journey through adolescence. I still like the first album for its catchy simplicity, but 'Listen' was a clear improvement in terms of maturity. The single 'Transfer Affection' (from 'Listen') was a taster of what was to come on 'Young Heart'. Songs with pure melodies that you'll want to hear again and again but the robotic monotones of earlier material are gradually being usurped by vocals with substance, soul and passion. The title track from 'Young Heart' is a good opener which leads us into the two standout singles from the LP. 'The More You live, The more You Love' and 'Never Again (The Dancer)'. I don't think AFOS ever recorded a better track than the former - it sounds like it could have been an early single by a band like 'The Adventures', while 'Never Again' is a song that you'll want to belt out at the top of your voice. Two further singles 'Remember David' and 'Living In Heaven' are much less anthemic but very listenable. You also get some good 12" mixes as extra tracks. All in all this album is a must have!

4.0 out of 5 stars Their Best., 6 Jan 2010

In my opinion A Flock Of Seagulls peaked musically with this album. Although many fans would argue, the songs here are more constructed. Lead single The More You Live The More You Love (UK Top 40) is presented here in it's original,7" & 12" versions. The other singles Remember David and Never Again are also included with various mixes. European (I Wish I was),Suicide Day and Heart of Steel make this album an essential part of any 80s collection.

Takes me back to the 80's, a great band that I don't think really made it as big as they should have this side of the pond anyway, well worth a listen and remember the hairstyles and 80's fashion, truly a great time for British music.

This classic is finally available on cd, a great concept album which for some reason ended the bands popularity, cant see why!! Definitley my favorite one with some really catchy tracks on! Remember David is awesome, plus you get the b-side Living In Heaven which is one of the best tracks Flock Of Seagulls recorded!
