4.0 out of 5 stars Fields Of Corn by Sarah Price
I gave this four stars because it was unpredictable, realistic with a cast of varied and flawed characters. It's message of loyalty, honour, surrender & acceptance that nurtured faith, gratitude and peace in marriage & community, was inspiring. Prejudice surrenders in the presence of humility. To be a servant is holy leadership. Readers, prepare to see your reflection,...

...but poorly written and no real depth. Having read "Amish Forgiveness" (about the school massacre in 2006) I had hoped for something more challenging and with more food for thought. However, as a light read, it's OK.

after driving through USA and seeing the Amish homes which were so colourful and shopping in one of their stores and admiring their sewing and quilting I was delighted to come across this book. It would do us all good to step back and contemplate that the simple way of life (although hard) is much better than our fast pace with all its technology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fields of Corn, 2 Mar. 2013

I really loved this story, I've read Amish fiction for some time as I find it a great antidote to our very hectic, disjointed world. This book contains such a powerful message and is well worth reading. I look forward to reading some more books by this author.

book arrived very quickly and was in good condition. It is too soon to write a review as this is on my list of books to read but I have not yet had time to get around to reading it. I shall wait till I have the full set.

I really enjoyed this Amish romance. I did find Sylvia's extreme shyness and quietness a bit annoying occasionally and ere were things that happened that I wasn't convinced about, but a good read none the less.

This book is a revelation. The reader is made to feel part of the community and relate to the characters. There are a few twists and turns in the story that are unexpected, this is a very good fead

How are hard working the Amish are is shown very clearly in this book.
The family/ies join together to get the harvest in and they work with very little grumbling from dawn to dusk.
