5.0 out of 5 stars Filthy dirty rock n' roll..., 14 April 2009
This review is from: Three Legs of Trouble (Audio CD)
Great album from across the pond, I've had it for about 12 months now and was surprised to see nobody had reviewed it, it certainly deserves a few words, and is definitely worth a punt if you're looking for something fresh.

Filthy, dirty rock of the highest order, you can detect the smell of Jack Daniels, fag smoke and vomit emitting from the speakers as you play the cd (very loud please to get the full effect), the dirty crunchy guitars and snarly vocals lead you down a late 80's early 90's memory lane, certainly a time that is very close to my heart.

These guys obviously grew up on a diet of Guns n' Roses, Motley Crue and AC/DC, imagine the sounds and styles of these three bands blended into a beer swilling, hip shaking, girlfriend stealing smoothie, you'll get a pretty fair idea of where their sound is at.

Fits in nicely with recent releases by bands such as Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry, Endeverafter etc, bang up to date, classicly influenced, hard driving rock n roll baby!!

I am not sure how Stone Rider would describe themselves but they have an eclectic mix of influences, most notably the wah drenched stoner rock of the 70's. I would think that Hendrix features highly in their record collections. That said, this is not just another rip off, Stone Rider have blended together the elements and created something that feels both secure and familiar and also new and exciting. Very fine line to tread but done quite well indeed. The songs are well crafted for the most part and there is little in the way of "filler" tracks but there are no real standout tracks (this sounds like a criticism but just indicates that all the songs are to a good standard). This feels like an album rather than a collection of singles and it works well. They need to add an extra bit of magic into the songs if they are going to make it big, but overall an excellent effort that is well worth listening too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a rock abulm to shout about!, 4 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is one of those rare albums where I can say every track is brilliant!

It's one that will make you shout **** yeah!. I played it almost every day whilst I was serving in Afghanistan and it never failed to make me smile.

It's good old hard rock that isn't trying anything new, just does it how it's supposed to be done.

I really hope these guys release another album.

10/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Hell of a record, 11 Dec 2009

I have this Album well over a year now and it still hasn't left my heavy rotation list. It's a really great straight forward old time rock n roll record. The sound is dirty as a chinmey sweeps overalls. They definately tip their hats to the bands of the seventies, somewhere in the mould of hendrix and zepplin, the sound is loose but tight if you know what I mean.

There really are no weak tracks on the album and it is fitting that their 'hair of the dog cover' sounds totally at home among the rest of the songs.

Seriously if you haven't heard these guys you won't be disappointed.
