Bright and Colourful
on 26 December 2010
I bought one of these lions at a car boot sale for £1.50 (I'm a huge Leapfrog fan), but thought I had a faulty version as when I put batteries in it, it played the 'I'm am a lion ...' song a few times then reverted to a little tune everytime the tummy was rolled, I tried another set of batteries and again, only had the good tune for a few rolls, I thought I had a dud. My 10 month old daughter received another lion on Christmas Day, I didn't really look at the instructions and gave her the Lion - sure enough, even a brand new one reverted to the little tune rather than the full song. As I was packing up all the Christmas packaging, I realised that the Lion comes with a daytime action mode and a nighttime quiet mode. I had been pressing the little heart on the lions tummy which had put the lion into night time mode. Now that I know how to work the toy, I am really pleased with it - had I not have read the instructions, it would have been one of those toys left at the bottom of the toy box. I guess, you don't expect to need instructions for babies toys ... It is cute though and when my daughter received her car boot version a few months back - she was 7 months old, she very quickly learned how to roll the tummy to make a tune - teaching her cause and effect. Now she's a little older, I sing the song with her and 'reach up high' and 'reach down low', her first real action song. She does love playing with it and now I think I'll be keeping both lions as I'm sure this is going to be a favourite toy!
