4.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Love
I have been on real eighties cheesy music kick lately and after recently buying a boxset of pop hits I had to move on to some power ballads. `The Power of Love' despite the terrible name seemed to have the best mix of songs, on three discs and at a reasonable price. Of course you get `Total Eclipse of the Heart' (Bonnie Tyler) and `I Want to Know What Love is'...

I have been on real eighties cheesy music kick lately and after recently buying a boxset of pop hits I had to move on to some power ballads. `The Power of Love' despite the terrible name seemed to have the best mix of songs, on three discs and at a reasonable price. Of course you get `Total Eclipse of the Heart' (Bonnie Tyler) and `I Want to Know What Love is' (Foreigner), plus songs by Boston, Journey, Mr Mister, Survivor, Europe, BOC and all of those other excellent staples of power rock, but you also get some more modern stuff from the likes of Anastacia and although I'm not too keen on the more modern stuff here, at least it ensures the selection is varied. This is great to put on in the car and, like the pop collection I bought, you can't help but sing along with full gusto and with a sloppy grin plastered all over your face. There will always be some songs you are not keen on on any compilation disc set like this, depending on your personal taste, but for a good collection of power ballads over the past few decades then this is the place to go and makes for a great 3 disc album. Good value for money and cheesy in that good way!

Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

I bought this for my Man for Valentines day and he is thrilled with it! We are both over 40 but not 50 yet and all the music is pitched right at our age group!

3.0 out of 5 stars Covering The 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s., 2 July 2015

With 60 songs over 3 CDs there will be some any listener will enjoy over others.
There are many, many good tracks, however as someone who favours the 1970s my top choices are:
CD 1.
Electric Light Orchestra. Sweet Talkin' Woman.
CD 2.
Kansas. Dust In The Wind.
CD 3.
Chicago. If You Leave Me Now.
Overall if you like songs spread over 30 + years and original artists/recordings, this is certainly one to hear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ballads? I don't think so., 11 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Power of Love - 60 Powerful Love Ballads (Audio CD)
These are called ballads but I do not think so. Many songs are really fast with a lot of beat and rocky. Not what would call a ballad . slow and with a lot of feeling. I also did not recognise many songs. I deleted most of the songs after I had uploaded them to my itune because they really grated on me.

Some of the tracks do not reflect the title. I was expecting good compilation but I was disappionted with some of the tracks, especially CD two. The only interesting tracks are in CD one. I would have bought it if I had pre idea of some of this short comings. But I'll manage it.
