Thee workouts are just great! Joanna is really motivating and she always keeps me going. Although you can get sick of her saying "lovely" every ten seconds, that's also a part of her character that makes her so sweet. The workouts are really efficient, well-structured and adjustable. Joanna always have two girls with her, and you can follow Mairi if you're new to working out, Joanna if your fitness level is medium and cat/theresa if you've been working out a lot before. Either way, you'll improve your fitness level and lose weight/gain muscle strength from these workouts! And with this double dvd pack you always have different workouts to choose from, so you won't get bored. If you want a fitness plan fitted to your needs, go to Joanna's web site and print out the fitness plan that goes with the 28 day plan dvd. This dvd is a great buy for "normal people", however i can imagine if you spend hours in the fitness studio every day you wouldn't find these workouts challenging. But if you're at a medium fitness level (or even if you're new to working out) this is definitely worth a try!

This double dvd set is excellent. I've been following both DVDs for a while now and I'm still enjoying them. The total body workout consists of 2, 30 min aerobic routines and 1, 30 min cardio yoga section. These are great for beginners/intermediate level exercisers and the half hour is just the right amount of time. The drop a dress size has 2 areobic style routines as well as floor sections, each approx 15 mins long. You can pick and choose which sections to do before you start, which is really useful, plus you can do as much or as little as you like. The dvds are very professionally done, with Joanna always ensuring your techniques are correct and providing easier/harder options to accommodate your fitness level. I haven't been disappointed at all by these DVDs and even bought it for my mum.

I've been using this DVD on and off for over a year now. I enjoy using the 28 Day Total Body Plan (28DTBP) more than the Drop a Size for Life (DSL)as it requires less equipment. The DSL work out is more segmented and allows you to put a series of workout elements in the order you want which is useful, but I found the routines Instant Booster and Metabolic Booster need a lot of stuff (chairs, mats, wall space etc) that I don't have room for when working out. I live in a flat with limited space. The Midriff Management and Lower Body programmes are good but there is a lot of changing around that could have been organised better, ie moving from lying on your back, to your side and back to your back again, rather than doing all the exercises on the back first.

I also find that the instructions aren't that clear with both DVDs. I do appreciate that it's really hard to do exercises while explaining what to do but sometimes there was a disconnect with what Joanna was saying and what she was doing - sometimes the terms used for one particular move suddenly became the term for another type of move. The use of post-production voice over could have alleviated some of these problems - Jane Fonda was doing this in the 80s so it's not like it's a groundbreaking technique.

After using the DVD for so long I'm now pretty familiar with it, but realise that for a beginner it could make things a bit tricky.

Also there are some elements advertised with the DVDs that aren't available in this double pack (there are no inserts in the DVD) - perhaps they still are with the individually sold versions of the workouts.

Despite these issues however, I do enjoy doing the routines and work up a bit of a sweat with the Cardio Can Do & Sweat Sculpt and Success from the 28DTBP.

Word of warning to those living in a flat with downstairs neighbours - there is some jumping and running on the spot, which is always a concern for me as my running in the living room, means I'm pounding the ceiling of my downstairs neighbour!

I am getting a bit used to the routines now so I am looking for a new DVD challenge, but would recommend the DVD to someone looking to start exercising at home. For the price it's great value.

Very good value! Easy to follow, neither too demanding choreography or too exhausting. You can of course do two or more exercises for a greater challenge! I like being able to mix between the 2 discs, my favorite mix at the moment is "Sweat&Sculpt" from Total body, together with "Midriff management" from Drop a size for life. Less risk of getting bored, as you can make up your own program. On "Drop a size" you can set your choice on your player before you start, which saves you from losing pace. Even by doing just one of the workouts(20 or 30 min)a few times per week, gives good result! I like her approach - no expensive equipment, and a very non-threatening attitude. Some instructors can be really scary! The two ladies accompanying her, gives you an option for harder or easier workouts. Joanna also gives you good pointers for more efficient and safer training. I love it!

I am a big fan of Davina and The Firm, but I was looking for an occasional alternative to weight training and this DVD was too good value to pass up. Joanna concentrates on beginner or intermediate cardio and resistance/pilates/yoga training, using your own body weight.
The thing I love most about this DVD is the sheer number of choices available: 3 x 30-minute routines on one DVD and 5 x 12 to 20-minute routines on the other. I can easily build up an adaptable workout and I don't get bored.
It's really important to challenge the body by doing different types of exercise so I frequently use some of the routines as part of a workout alongside Davina or The Firm. The Lower Body System (oh my bottom!) and Midriff Management routines are brilliant for this. It's great knowing that I have worked every muscle that way!
Another recommendation is to use the Cardio Flow Yoga at the end of a workout - it's a great (and still quite difficult) way to stretch out.
Thoroughly recommended for beginners, this is a DVD you will still use as you progress in your fitness.

I have used Drop A Dress size before with quick results and re visiting it, I find it great for stretching my back which aches occasionally. I find Joanna easy to follow and 30 mins of exercise is manageable in a busy lifestyle. There are easy and difficult variations of Joannas exercises to do if you are new to exercise or more advanced.
