I don't normally comment online but had to with this one as its my favourite album of the year so far (early days admittedly). It has a lineage from Dylan or The Kinks, lyrically at least; but its always contemporary, unpretentious and often very funny. `Joni' and `Do It Better' are the first to grab but there are some real growers on here if you give it a chance. `Something or Nothing' and `Save your Sorrow' are total epic numbers - but still come in at under 4mins. `Walking to Town' is a curious tale of small town day trip with some unspecified incident that is best left to the imagination, it reminds me a bit of Brian Eno and Denim.
This is one unique and diverse record that means more to me than it probably should.

A wee gem, strong influences but all good ones at that. well crafted lyrics, good to see a group playing music they love, not just another of this years soundalikes. The videos have been excellent as well.

one star off for being a bit on the short side.

Apparently this lot are the next big thing from Scotland. Well I'm all for ambition but for anyone over 30 who has an ear for "jagged guitar" style music you'd be better off dusting down your old Buzzcocks, Josef K and Orange Juice albums, because these boys have certainly been listening to them but unfortunately don't have a tenth of the song writing ability of the old boys. Whiny vocals with oh so arch lyrics and loads of wee swearies - how brave! I'm looking forward to the unhelpful votes for this one because quite frankly anyone who likes this lot need their ears testing. I bet all the people who adore Pete Doherty will lap this up because it is sticking a finger up to "the man".

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish - the only good thing is that it lasts less than 30 minutes, which even then makes it rubbish value if you are daft enough to like it.

Did I tell you it was rubbish?
